Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

Definitely post up on spring rates and what the range of damper adjustment actually does to the ride.

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

He promised me it would take no longer than a month and a half, so we'll see. I got 6k in the front and 4k in the rear, just because I wanted a firmer ride, yet I still have some of the comfort there. I think it will give the SVX a really nice ride. I'll definitely adjust the dampening and see what I like best

Great! How did you run the adjusting cables (?) for the rears?

Thanks.

The OP, B 4 You decided to go another route, before he got these he went with air ride. Or perhaps STi coil overs, they need as much modding as the original sets of these sets did. He then went air ride.

I have one of the original sets, I have had great performance out of mine, I have a harsh ride set up though, I have NO body roll on hard turns.

If what has been indicated in previous posts is true you have no worries about ordering these, they will fit without any customizing. and they should get to you much quicker then the first ones did.
The AMR coilovers took longer to get to people then these did and some have found that the stud through the top of the shock tower hits the hood when closing. That is the adjustment knob though and I guess it can be taken off.
One member has 2 little bumps in his hood now.

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

any updates from those who have these installed? range of height adjustment? ride quality? ease of adjustment (bump and rebound)?

I have these installed. They're pretty great so far.
I have 7kg/5kg springs and opted for the "fast road/lowering" dampener option. Ride quality is subjective, but I have the dampers set about 12 clicks (32 being max stiff). The ride is a little stiff, but on smooth roads it is smooth. No noticeable squatting from acceleration or braking, and very very little body roll with harsh cornering. The dampeners are one way, so they only adjust compression (I think?). They use 62mm diameter and 180mm tall springs in the front, so you can get away with m@d camb3r y0! or run wider wheels without rubbing.
Ride heights are pretty variable. I was able to lower the car 3 inches below stock with the front sway bar collars on and still had enough threads to lower the car at least another inch.
Camber plates front and rear, although the rear camber plates are virtually useless due to the minimal opening for the strut tops in the chassis (will upload a pic next time I remove the rear deck). Camber is adjusted via 4 set screws, and the dampeners are adjusted with knobs in the front and remote adjusters in the rear that are routed to the trunk.
They used the STI knuckle bolt spacing on the front, so I had to grind 1/4" of material from the lower bolt holes to fit, otherwise perfect bolt in fitment. Rear knuckle mounts have the STI style brake tabs, so i just zip-tied my lines to the tabs. Front top hats have longer studs than OEM in case you wanted to install a strut bar or something else.
Even with the couple of design flaws, it's cheaper than a quality set of STI coilovers and less work than a Koni/GC setup or adapting STI coilovers.

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

Thanks for the feedback!! Pics would be appreciated.About how many miles have you put on the car since installing the Ceikas? Any signs of corrosion on them?

I'll upload pics when I get home.
I've maybe put about 1500 miles so far and no corrosion.
They have attracted a lot of dirt due to the light coating of moly grease I applied to the shock bodies in order to prevent the aluminum adjuster rings from seizing to the steel threaded shock bodies.
The powder coating is really tough too! I lightly knocked off some dust with a wire brush while adjusting ride height and it didn't seem to harm it.
Also compared my new BC racing coilovers for my E30 to the Ceikas, and the craftsmanship is on the same level. I do like the adjuster/lockrings from Ceika better though.
