downshifting problem
Well my car developed yet another problem. It is already getting a new engine, but today while out driving it, it would allow you to get up to speed, but if you try to step on the gas to go faster, it wont downshift, it just revs the engine up.
Is this a transmission issue? As in tranny is on its last leg and ready for the scrap yard? |

The RPM's go up. But the car doesnt go any faster or maybe goes 1-2mph faster, it does not loose speed, it just doesnt gain it or doesnt gain very much anyways. when you let off the gas and SLOWLY give it gas, it will get up to the speed you want (as long as it doesnt have to downshift it is ok). If you go from a stop up to 65mph as long as you are not pressing too hard on the gas it will do it perfectly as if there is nothing wrong, but if you try to do it quickly, it cant do it. I have not tried to press the gas all the way to the floor but just enough to get it to try to downshift to merge in with traffic. It definately seems like it is slipping.

omg
sounds like what just happened to our car. budfreak1 can also do a transmission...but i'm first... This weekend. it's just one thing after the other. unbelievable. my heart goes out to you, as i am in the same boat. but have just used my last resource for the transmission, so i really don't know what i'll do after this. i am so sorry that you also are going through this. all i wanted was a car for my son... a car that would be safe and good for him. our spirits are done.

Well I definately trust your judgement, and cant wait for the engine work to be done.
I dont know what exactly I will do if the tranny is going bad. Manual maybe? 4.44?? This car is really really really pissing me off. |

thank you for explaining that to me. it sounds awesome! don't get me excited about this car. i have to sell it, but now it sounds like i want to keep it. and here's the confused face again ....

Has anyone experianced any engine related issues running the 4.44?
Since it runs a higher RPM I am assuming it is a little harder on the engines. Should you do anything different as far as maintenance on either the engine or tranny? |
