New England mid-field graphics

Okay, I give up. What in the world are the illustrations painted at mid-field, near each sideline, on the field where the Patriots play in Foxboro, Mass.?

Nope, not the China Bowl promos; those weren't on the 50. I'm talking about the gray things that look like weird, old-fashioned mechanical calipers shooting yellow streaks... or something. They're about 10 yards long, straddle the 50 yard line, and there's one on each side fo the field. They were there last season. I can't fathom what they could be, but figure surely it'll be obvious when someone tells me.

Isn't that stadium called Gillette Field? Some sort of abstract razor, maybe...?
