The Real War

With all of these threads about the wars in the middle east, the threads that are pro and con President Bush, political threads that are pro and con on the Democrats and Republicans, and last but not least, the illegal immigrant thread; I'd thought I'd start a thread about the real war.
The war that I'm talking about has been fought continuously for 80+ years. For the most part the side that I back has won almost all the battles, but the other side never gives up nor surrenders. The other side is a very tough foe.

By now you are wondering, "What the heck is he talking about?"
Let me explain.

Many of you know that I am your friendly, network, local representative for 'The Evil Empire' (not the one from Starwars), also affectionately known as the 'Bronx Bombers.' Their official name of course is the NEW YORK YANKEES. Their chief rival through the years has been the BOSTON RED SOX.
The Red Sox are truly a terrific franchise and they would probably win every year, if they were in another division.

So far this past weekend, the Yankees have taken 4 out of 5 games for the Sox. Game #5 is today. If the Yankees win today and swwep the Sox, it will rank right up there with the 'Boston Massacre of 1978'. That's the series of baseball games where Bucky Dent recieved the two new middle intials 'F.' & 'N.' for which he will forever be linked. Now, you can't say his name without adding those two initials between his first and last name.

Well, so long for now, I have to set up my computer so I can get the play by play scores at work this afternoon.

You're right. The Yankees her owners and anyone nay everyone affiliated should be put on a slow moving boat to China and never be allowed to set foot on American soil again.

The only reason they do as well as they do is because they are, simply, the best team money can buy, literally.

Actually I am pretty much a Braves fan, but then not really dedicated to baseball like I was before they went on strike. That and steriods have reduced the importance of baseball to me.

Like homerun records---do you see anyone comparing homerun production compared to times at bat? Now that might say something. Even the season home run record is meaningless based on numbers of games played.

Besides a truly good baseball game (little or no scoring) on TV is about as exciting as watching grass grow. The ONLY way to watch baseball and enjoy it is in person.

ahh look at those phillies.....2 games back of the wild card...what do ya think larry? You think Hamels, Howard, and Utley can lead us into the playoffs?

Howard is projected for 57 HR's and 142 RBI's....he HAS to be the NL MVP
