The next Tornado/acetone fuel saver rip off?

Or is there some science to nitrogen?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060731/...trogen_tires_1

---

To me, it seems keeping your tires inflated will bear the same result, but if nitrogen can spare us the effort of checking tire pressure every few days, why not?
I'm not really sure though if paying extra for the gas will offset the milage "gained", if any.

This is pretty ridiculous, unless you're one of those people that NEVER checks your tire pressures. The only benefit would be in a very low amount of pressure change with heating and cooling. Air at the same pressure as nitrogen, when cool, would actually result in better gas mileage. The only reason it is used in racing vehicles is for consistant tire pressure.

Gotta love that last quote: "I say, 'Why are you drinking that bottled water when there's a pond out back?'" he said." Wow, that is just a ludicrous question.

Here's a good quote of mine ....

People tell me: "Didn't you know smoking is bad for you?"

I say : "So is breathing! Do you have any idea of the amount of pollutants in the air?" .. Usually shuts em up every time...

There're some drivers don't have the habit to check tire pressures and drive until the tire is flat. If this gas can really stay inside the tire for its whole life, not bad huh. Some stations charge 0.50 or 0.75 to get air.

Saving gas? Not sure. I use Nike Air brand tires so my car always rides on the air...I don't really need to go to gas station...

What if they made a tired with a little 'pump' on the side like the old nike sneaks....so you can make your car jump higher

And folks who would PAY MONEY to run nitrogen likely do so 'cos it's "NASCAR air."

The USAF uses nitrogen in it's aircraft tires as well... however I doubt it affects their MPG.
