Which would be quite rare, indeed.

Mother of all dog runs!!
Since Harry didn't show up today, I had to 'entertain' myself some how.
I took the kids former playhouse apart last week, (intending to cut it up for firewood), but the kid screamed "NO"!! I used the salvageable wood to build a 2 story dog house. I am going with the general look of a German cottage, complete with a deck, a 'doggie'-sized glider,a lot of cris-crossing trim boards, a white picket fence, shutters, flower gardens and the scraps from the new barn red tin garage roof on top!! I built a platform out of pressure treated 4x4s amd 2x12s, tacked the kids playhouse pieces to it and framed the roof. My dogs weigh in at 6 lbs, (Louie) and 11 lbs, ( Molly), and they will only be out there for limited times, but I thought it would be neat to 'over-kill the dog run. It also gives me a use for the scraps that would go to the trash otherwise. I will also add the dog run into the Christmas lights plan. It will be structured in such a way that it can be 'converted' to the Christmas Village theme that the yard will have this year! ( pics coming)

Spoiled brat dogs!

Louie spent most of the day in his chair and only came out to give trespassers "Wat FER". I think it will work out fine. Spent the last 2 days dealing with the dogs, now it's back to the HOUSE! The electrician came by and gave me an estimate on the 4 bay garage too. We will have enough sparks to fry a criminal for under $700.

This AM at 7:15 I put the dogs on the leash for the mourning run. Molly DRAGGED me to the back yard, and waited for me to open the door, so she could go in! I guess the new dog run is a 'HIT'!! I did have a 'scrap' of tin that worked, so the 'doggie-deck' has a roof over it now. As far as the actual house goes, we turned onto the west side today! This will be the greatest challenge, since it has suffered the most abuse from mother nature. We are about 25 ft into the resto, and only have 125 feet to go! I have decided that the (place that never existed, but could have) will be on the NW corner of the 150 year old structure, since the 'features' best fit the goal. I will build Huckleberry's Place, ( the 'fictional' gas station here). The bay of the garage will be done in 40's style gas station 'motife' and display all the 'gas station' items that I have stashed over the last 30 years. The wallpaper will be all the licence plates that I have not sold from the 1919 solid tire tag I pulled from a log cabin, to the street rod tags from the 47440 since it was born. As this plan unfolds, some of the items that will be viewed have been in boxes for 30 + years. The garage at the 'home place' has treasures that have not been seen by anyone but me since 1968! I will be hauling them here, and building the 'proper' display over the winter and will BE ready for 'Prime Time' when the NEXT garage tour is scheduled!! The heat will be from a 1946 pot bellied stove that I rescued from the crusher last month. I am going to cut a tree stump and put it next to the stove, and hand carve a checkerboard and all the pieces so we can play a real game when you pass through! I found out today, that the 'deal' went through underwriting and the 4 bay is MINE!!! I have since called the power co and set up the installation of the necessary 'sparks' to build street rod frames there. As soon as the new cement dries, I can start on the 30 Willys Knight (again). It went away about 10 years ago, and came home this winter. I LOVE it when a plan comes together!!!!!!!

The place that never existed,( but could have)
Huckleberry's Place....
Sketches are done, ground work done, materials ordered for tues AM. We will have the thing 'under roof' by 2 pm tuesday! Small change in the sign, It will be, " Huckleberry's Place, Gas and General Merchandise". It will double as an 'antique store, and what-not shoppe' I found out that my 'zoning' is, 'Business-highway', which gives me anything but a salvage yard! ( I just CLOSED one of those on the Planet MRAF.) The Zoning there is " Continuation of a non-conforming use", Which means that I can put a CRUSHER there and no one can say squat. ( but all the neighbors are zoned residential.) I will be ordering the plasma cutter this friday and the 'in town' welding shop will be up and running in 2 weeks. Also, the perpetual garage sale will be running too. It will run till the wife gets boored with it, then I will burn all the leftovers to heat the welding shop. (It's 2 separate 2 bay garages that are hooked together)

Cost me $10.00, and was a new, but dirty, thermo-pane, double glass, argon filled window that would have cost $350. new! I did have to buy a rope for $1.95 to tie it to the Outback. ( I was killing time, going 'junking' while my mom was at a doctors appt in a town 100 miles east of here.)

Even when I sleep, the ideas pop in, and I jump out of bed and draw the PICTURES!! The next day, I get out the hammer and saw and MAKE IT SO!!! I guess it's my curse!! Add a plasma cutter to her nightmare!!! WWWWWOOOOOAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

as the weather DETERIORATES!
Ordered more concrete on WED, to be dumped and smeared on thursday....It will include the necessary 'crete' to make Huckleberry's place a reality!
We put it under roof on Monday, and will be ready to put the 40's vintage 'glider' in it's proper place before the FIRST birthday party of my youngest grandson on sunday. We hooked the carport we built to the garage I bought last week, so the birthday party will have 'coverage' if the weather doesn't co-operate. I can build a fire that will scorch the paint if it's cold. I have asked the Lord for 70 degrees for the occasion. Sorry, no pics yet, cause I'm too busy BUILDING things. I was standing in the yard today scratching my chin and Harry said, " Don't DO that"!! He said " Every time you do that, we have to build another ROOF"! ( As he finished painting, I told him to bring a ladder, cause we had another roof to build). We built it, and it was GOOD! ( that's when the carport hooked to the garage) This is the MOST PRODUCTIVE YEAR of my LIFE!!! I'm not done yet! It's not snowing!
