Smallcar Shiftkit install
Hello all.....I am thinking of putting in the smallcar shift kit,and I saw a blurb in their forum about someone installing it on a 96 SVX,and while it ran fine,they kept getting a solenoid A code stored.
Does anyone out there have this installed on a 96 or 97 obdII SVX,and if so do you also have this small problem?

I believe this was a problem with the original kits. The recent kits have a resistor which fixes that bug. The trouble code is harmless, but if watching the power light blink a few times when you start the engine bothers you, well, you don't have to worry about it anymore.

I hate to say it but my 92 still blinks the code every startup with the extra solonoid

I have the shift kit installed on my 96 LSi and newsvx has it installed on his 97. They have worked flawlessly for the past year, no problems whatsoever.

Hey guys, I just received my Smallcar shift kit, and unfortunately my kit doesn't really look like the pics online. The one I have seems to have been built from spare parts. Most importantly the "prongs" aren't even level. It's like they were broken off and soldered back in with one prong where it was supposed to be, and the other one on the side of the unit! Is this how it's supposed to be? Any help would be appreciated. I'd post pics if I had a digital camera...maybe I'll just have to use my camera phone. Thanks!

One on top one broken in the middle and one on bottom with a restior on the side. You don't use the plug in the middle anyways the hose goes to one end and to the manifold you split one of the wires to the existing resistor and plug that on to the ends of the kit.

At wide open throttle, it disengages the resistor and prevents the transmission from dropping the line pressure. This results in harder, faster shifts, and helps keep the tranny cooler.
