Here is basically the whole right side (from the cars point of view) of the engine bay. You can see the hose laying there, the end resting agains the air cleaner, the other end going into the bottom of the black cylinder thing.

ok, that hose is nothing more than the vapor dump for the filter cannister.. or the air supply for the cannister.. i can't remember which, but it really is of no consequence at all.. if you stretch the hose towards the back of the engine there is a hole in the engine bay near the passenger side front wheel well that the hose "plugs" into..kinda looks like just a small plastic opening opposite from the valve covers, mine doesn't fit very snuggly either and regularly pops out.. so no biggy

The evaporative canister catches extra fuel fumes instead of just dumping them into the atmosphere. This hose is a drain for any liquid inside.

So this is like a 99.9 percent chance that this is not causing my check engine light to come on? Hmm, well my roommate has an thing that plugs into the computer to see what code is causing the light to come on. I origionally thoguht it was because the oil was not changed in a zillion years. But then I noticed that it does not come on right away, it is off, then as the engine warms it is a little intermittant, and then comes on during accelleration, theen it eventually stays on all the time. Will see about taking it to my garage to fix what ever it is this weekend.

Thanks for all the help guys! Thank you soooo mcuh.

It's probly one or all four of the following items

1. One or both knock sensors
2. One or both 02 sensors

Not too hard to replace and they don't cost too much but they are pricey

So it is something I can replace with just a cresent wrench, any specific tools I am going to need? I could just take it down to the garage and they will figure out exactly what is wrong with it and fix it for me, but I think this is something that I can do myself, and I am looking to save a buck or two every chance I get.

if your SVX is a 92-95 model you can check the code(s) yourself. Instructions in the howto locker or the SVXipedia on http://svx-iw.com/
