Elko = cowboy poetry if I remember correctly. I stopped for gas there, the station's mechanic wandered outside to ask if he could look under my hood.

I liked driving around SLC and Moab and Tahoe, I wouldn't mind doing that again, the drive across UT and NV was a bit warm but there was that neat reststop in wendover with the observation deck and shaded parking. I'll tint my windows before the next meet!

Hehe nickel.

Yes... I've found quite a few... they are all upside down and backwards now...

That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

I've got it. Let's hold the next big meet at Familytown, USA. FOr those who may not know, Familytown, USA means Branson, Missouri. Yes, Branson, Missouri. We'd have a good ol' time there. LMAO

Elko? I've always wanted to spend some time in BFE.

It would be a good starting point for the Silver State Classic in a few weeks. Although it seems that Keith doesn't need to do the Classic to get his car up to 140.

Just got back from Tahoe

Well I'm back, I was gone since last Weds when all the "stuff" happened so I haven't been around to answer any comments, etc.

Anyway, looks like that has all come and gone and we are back on track here.

It's looking like Sand Dunes (which going forward we are just calling the NWSVX west coast meet 05 - kinda optimistic that it will become an annual thing and change locations year to year) will be in the late July/early August time period (best chance of sunny weather for the OR coast).

Sounds like most of the Western Region Meet locations are in the desert type areas and so it will probably fall into the spring or autumn months. Either way, should allow a nice 2 month buffer between the two big meets so the diehards can attend both reasonably easy.

Where was I for 6 days? Lake Tahoe. South side. We drove there. Interestingly enough, it was the orginal weekend for the Reno meet, up until a few months ago when the weekend changed. Also, way back when, Tahoe was one of the orginial locations. So I guess we just kinda stuck to the original plan. It was beautiful there though, would definitely make a great place for a meet. The roads around there are awesome too, I was wishing I had drove the SVX. Another interesting thing, I'm sure it was coincidence, but it was almost like several others were on the year old meet plan - we counted no less than 5 different SVXes within a couple mile radius of the south Tahoe "strip" over the weekend! Never got a chance to talk to any of them, but it was kinda funny. Also saw a sixth one on the way out of town west on 50 Monday morning, a pearlie abandoned on the side of the road with CA plates. As we passed, a CHP was just making a U turn to go tag it probably.

Also saw our 7th SVX of the week just over the OR border in WA, followed it all the way to Olympia before he lost us. Nice shiny red with personalized OR plates.

Moab

Moab would be great. I have pics of my SVX there, but many more pics of my 4runner on the trails. It would be tough to leave the moabready truck (35's, lockers, 2 transfer cases, turbo truck tranny-blah blah blah) home on a trip, but I could do it.

I don't think the SVX is going to do very well on Golden Spike Trail. My heat shields took a beating just getting out to Horseshoe and Bell canyon where I went on some memorable hikes.

Moab sure has changed over the years. The first time I went there, I ended up staying for a week. The town is fully prepared for us to show up in our lowriders. Watch where you park! The big dogs can back right over your hood and not even know it.

Some stuff to do:
Rent Mt. bikes and run some of the BEST trails in USA.
See petroglyphs right off the side of the road in Canyonlands.
Ride the ski-lift thing up to the top of Moab rim trail. walk to more petroglyphs.
Take a river raft cruise on the Colorado. (I've never done it)
Hike/backpack/camp
Arches National Park. See rocks in shapes that makes even athiests think. Amazing. I spent 2 whole days in Arches my first time there.
Rent a Jeep and beat it up on the trails.
Watch people break their sh!t on dump bump and potato salad hill.

Most of the roads around Moab are unpaved so there isn't a bunch of fun roads to go SVX on, but the "shortcut" from 70 to moab along the Colorado offers some twists that are tough because you are so busy taking in the scenery. Arches would provide tons of group fun and group photo ops.

By the time I drive all the way to Moab, I'm not really gonna be looking for fun roads to drive even more on!

I wanted to see canyonlands and the petroglyphs but I only had a day so I saw arches.
