Audio Unit Advice/ New Toy.

I have been bored of late, as i have missed having an open car and one fun to drive. As a result a 1997 Mazda MX5, Miata, now lives with the SVX. It is a mint car and I am very pleased with it. It has been imported used, from Japan.

Having completed mods to the steering wheel, smaller, further forward; seat, cushion hight reduced; pedals, adjusted forwards; gear lever, extended slightly/ I can now achieve a good straight arm driving position and am happy to explore its handling.

It has what appears to be a top line audio unit, i.e. Kenwood, DPX - 6100MD, with a multitude of dual function push buttons to control the many bells and whistles. Although I have sorted some out, setting the clock and presetting radio stations is proving a puzzle. I notice what could be a pin or whatever operated concealed button which could be the key to much that which is mystery.

It would appear to have no provision for left/righjt balance control, highly desirable in what is usually a driver only car. The visual display defies words.

Unfortunately no instruction book came with the car and I hope that a kind member here, may have had experience with this unit and can provide some advice. This will enable me to sort out the very last item on my list of "Mazda to do".

Thanks in anticipation. Trevor, *<)

Trevor,
Much of the time you can pull a manual from the manufacturer's website. Worth a try? http://www.kenwoodusa.com/support/si...px?men=2&M2=69 unfortunately showing unavailable, but offering a support TN well, That was the USA site, however Canadian delivers some goods!

Special thanks Glenn,

I had tried the USA site and have now used your Canadian url but the items detailed turn out to be home theatre stuff.

The ploy by Kenwood is no doubt to render the unit redundant so that I will spend on a new one, but I will not go along with that. I am a persistent old bugger when it comes to problems technical and do not intend to be beaten.

Thanks again, Trevor.

Sorry Trevor,
Guess I could have followed it through first. I've got a feeling that a Japanese speaker could get the info you need fairly easily. Who would have expected they'd re-use the model designation.
