SCCA AutoX Nationals

Just to confirm that the ESP competition at FedEx is the best in the country (and why I hope to learn a lot from the other drivers in it ) -- results from Nationals are in:

ESP - Strano - 1st
ESP - Burdette - 7th

Note: Strano also won the ProSolo held right before the Solo event (same facility in Topeaka) with Burdette coming in 4th or 5th (I think)

We sent one of our local drivers to compete in F-Stock and placed 2nd out of 30 in his class. He's not the best we've got either.

Mr. Earthworm,

If I read the SCCA site results correctly, the winner of F-Stock (Jason Burns) also competes at FedEx field regularly, and also won F-Stock in the ProSolo.

In the local auto-x forums there are plans on sending an entire fleet of cars/drivers next year to compete/clean up

That is correct. Jason does compete with the WDCR...

I was going over some pics a member of subaruforester.org (Peaty) took at nationals yesterday and came across this gem in STX:

What a beautiful site! The owner's from TX and he finished somewhere around 27th in a very competitive class.

Bill,

I've been hanging out at sccaforums.com of late. Due to the standing start, I'm seriously thinking about competing in 2 National Pro Solo Tour events in '07 and going to Topeka for the Finale only. It may take me another year of development to truly have a competitive car in D-Stock at Solo Nationals. Anyway, I'll be at the WDCR event in early October on r-comps. I'm aiming for a hard-fought top 3 finish...

Here's our local members. Note to Bill Sam and Jason are not DC members. That XT ran last year as well but not knowing much about STX, I'd probably challenge that car if I was behind it after reading the rules. My guess is it isn't legal but again, I'm not up on STX rules.

Congrats to Jason Burns, your new F-Stock National Champion.
Jason had a smoking time yesterday and held on to win today.

Sam Strano (from the Central Pa Region but also an Autocrossers,
Inc. member so he's Susquehanna by default ) also won ESP for his
third National Championship.

Other trophies:

Brian Burdette got wood for the first time finishing 7th in ESP, Lee
Piccione moved up to take 5th in BSP, and Mike Neary got 5th in STU.

Other finishers included Mike "Not The Kid" Snyder, 14th in ESP;
Phil Knowles, 17th in ESP; Alan Pozner, 27th in DS; Jim Snyder, 31st
in DS.

Autocrossers, Inc., members who aren't Susquehanna Region members
included Eric Kriemelmeyer, 8th in GS (only non-Mini to trophy);
Greg Olsen, 6th in STX; Karen Kraus, 12th in FS.

The Kuglers run tomorrow and Friday in FSP.

My local SCCA buddy Justin Rest (he won D-Stock at the Scooby Challenge) finished 28th in D-Stock at Nationals on factory struts!

Might have to make the 85 XT that PRETTY!!!! I did put a roof over it last week so the improvements will hold.

My co-driver from the Subaru Challenge, Shawn Roberts, currently sits in 11th place going into Day 2 of STS2. He's less than a 1/2 second back from the person in 3rd.

Just how good is the new C-Stock Pontiac Solstice?

Quote:
The post below was made by Erik Vandermay on miataforum.net.
How about this:

#1 in CS (Pontiac Solstice) had a total time of 101.697

That would have placed 7th is SS,
That would have placed 1st in AS (identical time to winner),
That would have placed 1st in BS (~0.7 sec faster than winner).

Each of the other classes ran in warmer temps than CS (AS and BS considerably warmer mid-70s vs low to mid 60s for CS).

Also, every Solstice that was entered in CS trophied (including one driver that coned all three runs on Thursday).
Competitors in C-Stock mentioned that some Solstices had 315 sized r-comps stuffed onto their stock 18x8" wheels - on a car with a 2,900lb curb weight! Dayum!!!
