I have been down that runway @ 150mph in my old WRX STI V5,it was fun/scarey and took some stopping for the long corner at the end.Best quarter mile time was 13.01 @110mph,the top speed run was over a mile and a quarter

What's strange to me is that we have dragsters that already do the 1/4 in under 4.5 seconds at a speed of over 330mph. What is the record they were trying to beat?

Significant Technical Input
I'll bet that all those that complain about the show '...glamorizing speed..." etc. were on their cell phones, spreading the news while driving home from work.

Personally, I thought he was thumbing his nose at fate when he sat in the car being struck by the million-volt lightning bolt.

I hope he pulls through with no long-term effects.

British land speed record= the BBC deny that Hammond was attempting this.
