Has anyone tried this satellite internet company?

www.wildblue.com

Their prices look much better than the competition, half of direcway for instilation!

You DO NOT want Satellite Internet. It blows. Wait for DSL or Cable. Honestly. The latency on Satellite Internet is so bad, and it's so expensive.

I have to agree with Manarius on this one. I've helped alot of people on Sat. Internet and its not the most stable thing in the world.

I would do some extra research on DSL in your area, Lately, I've been seening DSL get to many area's that have not had it before, so defantly check around.

Good luck... I know it can be a pain some times too

An unstable "UP TO 1.5Mb/s!! does not compare with a stable "In excess of 5Mb/s" from Cable. Are you sure you don't have internet on cable there yet?

i had satellite internet (direcway 2 way) a couple years ago. it definately had its ups and downs. it could download right around 400 KB/s and up to 700 KB/s so it wasn't slow in that area. As far as your regular everyday internet surfing, it is faster than dial up.. but just a little bit. normal pings are around 800 ms. so basically it can download fast but web surfing will just be a little bit faster and it will be more money.

My mother recently tried a subsidiary for business purposes...

She isnt happy, at all... up time, down time, uptime slower than her 24kbps dial up, up times as fast as DSL... its just too shakey... and this was all in good weather.
