I'll chime in on the "resistor" statement. Mine shifts really hard from 1 - 2 when the resistor is unplugged. (Only reason I plugged it back in) Randy (Has plugged resistor, nose, bathtub) ii |

My 1-2 seems to shift quicker / harder than 2-3 and 3-4, but it's really quick. yeah...

Behind/Next to, depending on your perspective. Stand at the front of the car with the hood open, looking at the engine. Look at the battery. Look to the right of the battery. Bolted to the inside of the engine bay is the resistor. There are little clips that need to be pressed in to unplug it. It's easier to do if you remove the battery and unbolt the resistor, but thats kind of a hassle... try just using a needle nose pliers to press the two clips in, then with your other hand push against the pliers to try and remove the plug. That worked for me..

Just for the record, my 1-2 has always been abrupt (both when it had the Legacy tranny and after the many incarnations of my current genuine SVX tranny). I think that's somewhat normal (for 92's anyway. Don't know about other models).
Now, if your 2-3 and 3-4 are "slamming" then, I'd suspect the resistor or duty solenoid A. The resistor would be the cheapest fix. Check the resistance. I don't know what it's supposed to be, off the top of my head. Somebody? Anybody? I know one of you guys has to know.

Resistor
Resistor should be twelve ohms when measured out of circuit. I would not worry about + or - one ohm.
My 92 shifts as smooth as. It is hard to detect shift points during normal driving but all are quite tight.

my first thought was that it......
has to be ther tranny mount. my car did that for a while but sporadically. took it in and it was the tranny mount. like a loud clunking sound. i would check that first.
