Useful Dealerships and Specialists

As discussed on a previous thread I have decided to start the ball rolling by giving the details of the workshop I used this week to service my car in the hope that it can be of use to others looking for a place to carry out work on their beloved SVX.

I used Protechnical in Nailsea which is just outside Bristol and I have to say I found them excellent. They did the work efficiently, kept me informed of all eventualities, their pricing was very reasonable and they had a good knowledge of SVX's.

As I live two hours drive away they arranged for me to have a hire car for the four days my car was there at a cost of £20 per day. In fact the car they provided was a little cracker; a brand new Peugeot 206 SW with electric everything, aircon, alloy wheels, you name it.

Protechnical have extensive workshop facilities, working on rare and imported cars and have 12 bays to carry out this work. They also sell cars and have a forecourt and showroom stocked with various interesting imports including today a Plymouth Prowler (yum yum).

All in all I was very pleased with the work undertaken, the amount I was charged and how they dealt with me as a customer. If you want any more info just ask or go direct to them by clicking on the link:

The scribble pad on my desk says they quoted me £85+VAT, but I seem to remember it being slightly less than that.

Because our car had an R12 system, it had to be drained and completely refilled with RS25 gas.

Later cars have R134 gas, and can just be topped up - which costs a lot less.

Mine is a MY93 - 'L' plate - I'll check which gas is listed under the bonnet... Thanks,

Just got me car back from Subaru 4 You in Berkshire. Never used them before but after hearing so much good said about them on various Impreza websites I decided to give them a go.

Subaru 4 You are not so much a them as a him. Len owns and runs S4Y from the garage at his house in lieu of his new business premises becoming available. And very, very pleased I was with the service I received from Len. Though very much a one-man band he is thoroughly professional and is equipped with all the necessary Subaru diagnostic kit to look after our cars. He's Ford, Mitsubishi and Subaru main dealer trained and unlike many has worked on quite a few SVXs and is about as knowledgeable on our cars as you're ever going to get.

He even gave me an old and fairly tired Micra to run around in for the nine days my car was with him free of charge which meant I had transport and didn't need someone to follow me there to bring me home after delivering my SVX.....always an issue when leaving your car with someone miles from home.

I had planned after having the work done to book my car in to have a 4-wheel alignment done on it but I didn't need to as Len had all the alignment equipment in his workshop and set up the geometry perfectly dialling out all the annoying pulling I was having up till now.

I was also very happy with the final bill. Len's pricing is lower than most places I've taken my cars to. Basically S4Y get a 10/10 from me.

So, I have no qualms in recommending "Subaru 4 You" to any SVX owner who needs to find a qualified and trustworthy place to entrust their beloved car to.

I hope this helps some of you.

If the guys in the homeland can put up a thread about good shop experiences with their SVXes, we in the colonies should do the same.
