Hot quarterpanels, cool hood..

i was wondering if anyone else noticed this...

after i've been driving my car for any significant amount of time, the metal above the front wheel wells is good and hot, while the hood is still cool to the touch..

what's the deal with that? is the hood THAT insulated?? all the "cool kids" put their intake tubes down into the fender.. is that not such a "hot" idea??

interesting question. I agree there's been lots of claims and counter claims with no evidence to speak of.

I have to go to training in Southbridge MA for the next week. My employer thinks they can make me a more "well rounded" employee if I take some business management and leadership classes - only three college courses away from an MBA.

Anyway, when I get back I'll try to find one of those remote oven temp gauges to test various spots.
