antenna- left it up going through carwash
I left my antenna up when I went through the carwash. I didnt notice anything until when I turned my radio on earlier today the antenna went up and just fell over. The extending rod broke near the bottom. The motor and everything still works, its just I need another rod. I went to pepboys and they said that I need the whole system with the motor and everything. That sounds like the stupidest thing ever and I really hope its not true. Does anybody know how to take the antenna out or know what I need to replace and where I can get it? Thanks

repair THIS
A long time ago in a land far away. . . . I repaired a similar break on a different vehicle: I took the whole unit apart (I guess I took the whole unit out) and disassembled the antenna mast. If you can't get a whole replacement mast, you might be able to do what I did: Remove the bottom (I assume this is what's broken) section. Somehow I converted the next section upward to be the bottom section (flared, crimped or whatever), eliminating the broken section. Of course your antenna will be shorter. Worked good for me, but don't know your needs? GOOD "LUCK"!

No instructions...
You can get just a mast from Subaru, but no instructions.
If you search, however, I believe someone wrote it up semi-recently... Talk to Kerven Subaru, aka Mike and he'll get you 'hooked up' :P

It is under the Network site.
http://www.svxworldnetwork.org/html/index.html A friend who has a SVX, had the same problem, but we were able to put it back together and crimp the section and it works great now. The main problem unless you tangle with a car wash is that the grease gets very stiff from dirt getting into it and sometimes sticks the sections together which seperates the antenna sections.
