Circ

why does the car automatically turn recirculate off after it's been on for a while

it's really annoying, recirc is the best way to have cold air in the heat, the compressor doesn't have to work as hard and stuff

but it seems to automatcially shut circ off after a half hr or so

Yes you are correct. It does this automatically. Reasons? So you get fresh air in the car?

The car is smarter than you. Dont ask questions.

I believe svx_commuter is correct. I think it's to get cold air in the car. It is much like how the heat will never come out of the top vents. That is done because subaru found that heat coming out of the top vents tended to dry out passenger's eyes.

It is done to supply oxygen into cabin and remove carbon dioxide. Humans are known to consume oxygen from the air and produce carbon dioxide. Car is small and sealed well.
