My SVX is in need of her first repair.
I've had her for a month now and I always thought the exhaust sounded kind of... ricey down low. real nice up high, but very put put down low. I always chalked it up to the charecteristic of the stock muffler, but it looks like it was an exhaust leak all along. I did some *unusually spirpted* highway driving the other day, and the next morning I noticed the exhaust was louder than usual. I found a nice spot where nobody was around, and I revved it a few times with the door open. "POP PO-POP POP" on the spindown. yup, she's got a leak. I looked at the pipes, and it seems to be one or both of the pipes between the primary and secondary car. the heat shielding on top of the pipes is all corroded, so it stands to reason the pipes have seen some corrosion too.
I'm thinking I'm going to have both the primary cats replaced with test pipes. that way I can keep the cats to have the pipes reworked if neccecary. I want ot get the stage 2 kit, or stage 3 if it looks like it'll come out well, so I need to get rid of these cats anyways. quick question: if I'm jsut getting rid of the primaries, do I need to worry about expansion chambers or anything? or can I jsut replace them with straight pipes since the secondary is still there?
