3rd gear slow to engage

Ever since the start of winter with the lower temperature, the tranny has been slow to shift between 2nd and 3rd gear while the car is cold. It hasn't been a major problem (yet), but it seems to be getting worse, as it takes longer in the morning now to get it to shift normally.

There's no "needle flare" between shifts, but there's a feeling of the car not wanting to anywhere. The pause between 2nd and 3rd can be sometimes over 1 second, and at that stage, if I try to give it more gas, the engine does not rev up, it just kinda "coast". It almost feel like as if I'm out of gas. Once the car warms up, it shifts fine.

Anyone care to hazard what might be wrong?

Thx.

Mine does this as well. It just kinda SLIIIIIDDDDEEESSS into 3rd. The transmission shop where I had mine rebuilt asures me this is normal. To check if your tranny is still fine, try disconnecting the solanoid connector next to the battery under the hood. Drive the car, and if it firmly shifts into 3rd, you know you're good. This is just subaru's way of generating 'luxury' shifts.
