First time at dragstrip

So, I decided that today, in the 94* heat, that I would run my car at the local test'n'tune (Pittsburgh Raceway Park)

I had a hard time getting a good launch, because my car apparently likes to get dropped about 1/2 way through the second light, but I got a .19 r/t with a 2.48 60' on my last run, which was my best at 16.134 @ 88.06. My first 3 runs were between 16.3 and 16.4. It was about 10* cooler on my last run and I iced my intake trying to get to 15's, but it just wasn't happening.

I decided after my first run though that 4.44's are in my near future, along with a little special project I've been planning since I can work on my car here at school

Edit: The runs were with a full tank of gas and 18" rims at 80-90*. I think if I had a near empty tank, and my stock rims/tires, and had a cooler night to run, I probably would have cracked the 15's.

Are you located in Pittsburg, or Vermont?
Di and I will be in The Burg this Saturday.

Re: First time at dragstrip

Well, I'm from the good ol 802, but I'm currently going to school at Wyotech in Blairsville, which is about halfway between Indiana and Greensburgh.

Now I'm about 8 hours closer to Reading than I was

Re: First time at dragstrip

If you can make it to North Park Saturday, you can drive my 93, (Christine) with LANs Stage 1 Agressive, LANs TCU, and a slightly modded exhaust.
AND if you are 21, I'll buy you a beer!

BTW, Indiana PA is only 45 minutes from North Side PGH.
Ask how I know.

Re: First time at dragstrip

Not too horrible. That's pretty much exactly what mine did the first time I took it out.

Just by doing a 2.5" cat-back exhaust and a lightweight crank pulley, I dropped from a 16.3 to a 15.9.

.4 seconds with two easy mods. Not too shabby.

After that I did the smallcar shiftkit ECUtune ecu upgrade, and an intake, and my best so far is 15.5.

After my 4.11 VTD trans swap, I'd like to hit 14's all motor with an automatic. Hopefully before the end of the season!!

Re: First time at dragstrip

That'd be great if you can get there, I really wanted to get to that point with this car, but that's not happening. I guess there's always the laguna to restore....

SVXi just aren't the greatest 1/4 mile cars. It's the fastest car I've ever owned, and I was happy with it. Then I made friends with a kid with an STi, and another that's got a 450whp S4. I still love it, but it's more satisfying to run identical times as them at auto-x, than to get abused at a dragstrip.

Bingo.

If only they were as fast as they looked, we'd have a really go-getter. Unfortunately, that's just not the case. My goal is simply to make it as fast as people think they actually are. hahaha

Put the fuse in to disengage the AWD and try again, it will likely be a bit quicker in the 1/4th.

Are you trying to blow up his front differential?
