Engine Rebuild... Need some info on parts

I am looking to rebuild my latest fart for a motor. I just took a peek at the prices for bearing and such on Subaruparts.com and I almost want to throw the old block in the ocean. it was cheaper for me to buy a junkyard engine than it would be for to buy just bearings for the crank and conn rods alone. Anyway, is there any way I could cross-referance the EG33 with the EJ22? I mean this along the lines of crank main bearings, conn rod bearings, pins and bushings, and maybe a ring set? Aftermarket parts are always cheaper than dealer parts so i was wondering if anyone may tell me where any aftermarket parts are available. Thanks for the help guys... and by the way, there is now rush as this is a gradual rebuild so eventually i can have a superfresh motor in my car.

Tom,
You might want to PM the guy up in Alaska who posted all the pics of the EG33 he was tearing down before rebuilding it. I'd have to think that he had sources for bearing, etc. lined up.

do you have a name? I know there was a guy who was rebuilding his motor not too long ago but proceeded to break his pistons and blow his block apart...

Try https://www.1stsubaruparts.com/ main set is $212 and rod set is $244. A few dollars cheaper than subaruparts.com but they don't have the nice diagrams.

Have you looked at aftermarket bearing options? In particular, the Clevite Tri-metal 77 is well regarded in many circles.
