The "right" tranny fluid - after a rebuild

Presumably synthetic, right? But which one?

I was told today that if you start with a clean rebuild you can use virtually ANYTHING (including low viscosity motor oil!). The same resource said that Toyota has a proprietary synthetic for Lexus that's about $100 per fillup, but it's the "best." What do you think?

Seems to me that the soft parts in the tranny are designed for a specific set of fluid characteristics.

Tranny Fluid

Henry,

I think some of the guys here use the Mobil 1 porduct. Do a search and see what you can find but I think i have read here or on Yahoo that that is what some are using.

Correct me if I am wrong here guys.

Henry,
All the synthetic fluid makers think they have the best one. Synthetic is more oxidation resistant than petroleum fluid. The next most important thing is to change fluid more often than 30,000 miles. The place that rebuilt mine told me 15,000(hers).

I'm using Royal Purple MAX-ATF, $8 qt, they claim to have the best anti-oxidation charactoristics.
