SVX Climate Control Digital Temperature Fault

Hi all

My UK RHD SVX has developed the classic problem with the climate control unit, where it keeps counting down & resetting to the default temperature (18 deg C in this case), 'saving' & then batch processing requests for outside T, and generally making lots of irritating beeps while in this mood

I am sure I saw a fantastically detailed write up with pictures, of how to extract the control unit from the dash, and fix the problem (capacitor leaking onto a PCB) but I can't find it !

Please could a kind person send me the link ?

Many thanks

Chris

Re: SVX Climate Control Digital Temperature Fault

good to see that people still find it useful - I have now fixed about 30 units...only one has come back with a different fault.

Re: SVX Climate Control Digital Temperature Fault

Hi ; it really is fantasically useful ! I really appreciate this service to the RHD community.

I stripped down my air con unit only to find someone had been there before me & fitted a larger capacitor ! I put a new one in for good measure, using my pathetic amateur soldering skills, but there was quite a bit of board damage from previous leaks, and on refitting I was getting the fault again, intermittently

I bit the bullet and bought a second unit S/H from Japan - I took it apart this evening and the board / (original) capacitor both look absolutely fine. I will put it in this weekend - hoping for the best !

All the best & thanks again

Chris
