Impreza, they don't fall to pieces like our cars.

WRX STi Type RA is a high performance impreza that was only sold in Japan in limited numbers, their EJ20 makes 280 hp, the RA tranny is a six or a five speed manual(cant remember) and is said to be the strongest ever made by subaru, they run a rear end with the same gear ratio as the 22B, they were a very limited very fast car intended for track use...
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=906047 heres the exact car... it needs help visually and it has some mechanical problems but would be a very strong car and a real force to be reconed with when it is totally done... both are going to still cost me money, STi would probably be quicker and get better gas millage but the SVX has pure sex appeal that is hard to match... I hope thats some info for you guys to kind of help me to decide... its a tuff choice for me really

As for the choice - I'd still go with the SVX. But that's just me, I like quiet/refined/fast/ and the styling. And yeah the automatic. I even have an automatic in my WRX if that tells you anything.

SVX hands down. That RA is a Geo Metro on Steroids. No class in the body style. A look at the wheelbase says it has no handling, and a rough ride.
A Metro on Steroids.

True, Impreza is pretty bulletproof, but still - over an SVX?

I see why you have such a strong interest in that car. While it isn't visually appealing, it'll be a real 'sleeper' on the street and handle the twisty stuff like a champ. Good luck selling your car and picking that one up. It'll need a bunch of body/paint work so I hope you can either do most of it yourself or have a close friend that does it! Otherwise, you could easily spend another 5-6K making that car look nice. Good luck whatever you decide! -Chike (Subaru forever! )

ya it really is going to come down to what I get for my car for Xmas, if I get the ECU I will probably keep it, but I dunno, with some quick black paint and maybe a body kit to help it out a little I think it is hard to pass up, not to mention how much of a sleeper it really is right now, but it does have some issues to work out... nothing I cant handle tho... i am just looking for honest opinions here, no bias ones, I think it would be a heck of a track car, and a beast on the road, it would be easy to build it to 350hp and the tranny could actually handle it, but the SVX is just something else to drive, its really a close call i think...

personally, I think if you were to put the money you would into that car making it run good and fix all the listed problems into your SVX, you would have one of the nicest SVXi on the network. if it is really going to cost 5-6k to replace everything, why not buy a WRX 5 speed, ECUtune 2v5, and start working on a turbo system for the SVX? a turbo SVX is something i would much rather have than that conversion
