My love for maintenance has been rekindled for the moment. I haven't really touched anything on the car since... who knows.

I took some nice pictures on my drive down a mountain (and video the whole way up). Somehow I made it without studded tires, ABS, what I presume is a bad wheel bearing, and that twisted control arm.

Must be nice to live in this neighborhood.

Been giving the engine a general tune up all day. Sprayed lithium grease into my MAF connector on accident. Must be time to call it a night.

Pretty sweet trail of blow-by on the rear of the engine coming from the airbox. It leads down the right crankcase ventilator giving the appearance of a leaking valve cover.

Nice pics.

I'll be close to you this summer. Heading for the Yukon and Alsek but also touring around Chicken, Tok, Gustavis, Skagway and Juneau. Unfortunately I'll be driving a rental.

The car rewarded my efforts to replace the jumpered NSS with a proper clutch switch by leaking fluid from the PS rack profusely. Ugh. Hoping it's just o-rings.

That's how mine looked when I bought the car !

Found out my PS leak was the high pressure hose- leaking at the seam between the hose and the fitting. Time for a new one.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Wow, nobody has done anything their cars recently. At least nothing worth sharing I guess!

Here's what I did today:

I swapped the passenger side hood strut with one from my parts car. It's not quite as good as it should be but at least I don't have to constantly be afraid it's gonna take my head off
One of the bolts broke when I was taking the bad one off, so I drilled and tapped the hole and replaced the bolts with stainless.

What is the strongest strut to get ? Where do you buy it? NAPA were the last ones on the car.

I'm curious about this too. My friend needs to do his so I'm looking for the easiest/cheapest option. How-to's didn't offer much.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

No idea. Like I said in the first post, I took this one off my parts car and painted it before putting it in. At least the hood doesn't slam every time I turn around now - just every other time!

P.S. A lot of people use vise grips
