A...ummm...can I make a ...little request?

I've given several of my "come join us" cards to my local dealer. He was nice enough to go look at the link www.subaru-svx.net and when he gets there he sees.... well....not a lot.

Sorry to complain (I LOVE THIS SIGHT! let's just get that out now)..it's just that....well... can we get a picture of AN SVX on this cover page and maybe some nice graphics to great out new members?

I like the SVX World Network Decal but that's the only graphic.

I realize that this sight is run mostly out of the goodness of our admins. hearts (and aredub's continued presence) so I'm just asking.

I have NO web building experience so I have no idea how much work is involved.

I also realize that most of us simple go right to the forums and they look great.

Anyway, I've made this post long enough. If I can help somehow (provide picts or something) let me know.

- Jeff

I've always wanted a cover page for this site. I am willing to work on it if everyone wants it.
I have posted that this is a forum and the site is a huge forum. We need something flashy to attract most people.

Y'know, perhaps a little spicing up of the *existing* front page would be okay. I just don't want this to become a graphics laden "showcase" for the SVX. This is a forum, it's supposed to be kinda Plain and simple -- god knows people complain enough about trying to find their way (Donnie ). If you want flash and dazzle, pop and sizzle and all o' that stuff, I can recommend John Rowe's site -- that's what the LINKS segment is for. Again, maybe a little sprucing up of the welcome page is in order (something I never see), but, trying to get "fancy schmancy" with it all is totally unnecessary. But that's just my opinion. I will defer to the masses.

Pick pics to post

I think a BRIGHT YELLOW (sorry, I'll quit shouting) SVX would make a nice banner.

One bright enough to be seen in KENTUCKY! (excuse me again) Don

If i have to redo this site's index.html, I will keep the colours, and the SVX.net logo. I do understand that this is a full forum page but I still think that forum should be a part of the main site -- like any other site (www.boxsey.com or www.audiworld.com). That is my 2 cents. We had this discussion before but no one expressed too much interest in the design.

As for those who just want the forum, you can directly point your browser at the forum -- right? I also want to include a registration section as well on the site. My linux server is down so I can't fully get that running just yet.

Nice one Don!

Excuse me, but I am from out of state. Does KY stand for Kentucky Yellow?

Just wondered.

Talking

How about a shot of Britney Spears posing on an SVX's wing, just to get the attention of visitors. Hell, at my age I'd settle for Sophia Loren plopped upon a WWII Jeep. Tsu.

I was going to stay out of this one . . . hehe, but what the heck - I have to agree with Randy on this one.
MAYBE a pic of the SVX would be appropriate, but any more than that serves what purpose? We know what our car looks like!
I can only speak for myself, but I come here for the forums - I could care less what a dealer thinks when he checks out the site. I also know that when I first got the SVX, I searched the net for sites with solid information - not graphics.
Keep it simple please! Hell, poor little Donnie has enough trouble as it is!

Re: Oh, NO!!!

I do agree with you guys in a sense that this site is for info. Anyway, I posted a link out earlier as a proposed solution. What do you people think? Is it still too much graphics? The thing is we know what our cars can do and what our cars look like. Do they know? When I mention SVX majority of people look at me blindly and thinks I drive a outback. Since this is the site that most of us hang out, I think we should have a picture of the car somewhere in the intro page.
my 2 cents

If a picture was to go up, which I think would be a great idea, perhaps a montage (a la the Adobe Photoshop experts here!) showing the prototype, Alycone symbols, front spoiler from JDM etc etc.

Just a though!

Ok.. How about SVX of the week on the main page. I will take email submissions, put them all in one big directory and have a random one choosen for the week starting at midnight monday mornings? The SVX of the week will be displayed all week till next monday when another one would be randomly choosen?

Sound ok, good, acceptable?
