Probably 80% of the SVX cars in existence have more miles on them!

Re: 6 digits.

thanks guys. it's funny, this is the first non-american car my family has ever owned. every other car (buick, oldsmobile, mercury, pontiac) we have had has just given up before 100,000 miles. even when they were only like ten years old. i'm the first. and i think that's the reason my dad went out and bought a 2010 outback a month after i got mine (i think he was just jealous though).
i expect to get 300,000 out of her, or more. i plan on taking care of this car. and it was made the same month and year i was born in, so tracking its age is pretty easy. :] i'll be stoked if she makes it to 50 years.

Re: 6 digits.

I am at 136,000+ but I just got the car A couple months ago. We havent put 100 miles on it. I have been fixing it. On average if taken care of, how many miles do you think these engines will last. I know they will all be different and maintenance is the life of the engine but on average with maintenance do these engines last a long time. My toyota just gave up and it was an awesome car. It had over 240,000 on it and I let it run out of oil. It started leaking worse and I didnt know it. I miss the celica. Thanks.

Re: 6 digits.

My old 92 Pearlie which I gave to my son, is getting very close to 500,000 (488,000) I'll post a picture of the odometer when it hits next year. The car is still in mint condition.

My car is sittin' pretty after 211,000 miles. This is my fourth Subaru that I've taken over 200K, and none were "dead" when they left my possession. Granted there were two that I passed on with a blown headgasket, but that's not a dead engine. I'd say they'll run forever if you fix whatever breaks. Aside from a wreck, neglect, or I suppose chronic rust, there isn't much that would prove fatal to an old Subaru. It just becomes a matter of fixing parts that are worth more than the car, and to some that's the end of it.

The first car that I daily drove was my Mom's '87 DL wagon. When she sold it off at 250K it still had the original clutch (which had taught two teens how to drive stick) and no major repairs needed. That is the standard to which I compare all other cars. I've never owned a car with less than 100K miles on it. Dead after 100K? That's a joke. I'll stick with Subarus, thanks.

Buying parts is like car payments. Someday she'll be all mine.
