Rod knock would be loud (like HOly Shi!t loud), you would not have much oil pressure and it will destroy itself relatively quickly. My guess would be piston slap. If you could get a video or audio, it would help

Piston slap is when the piston literally "slaps" into the side of the cylinder walls normally caused by a bad ring but there can be other causes.
My silver currently has this so if you get a vid up, i could tell you if thats what it is easily. Even without mine for comparison, its relatively easy to tell.

If it is just piston slap, it can be lived with for quite some time. My silver has had it ever since I bought it nearly 2 years ago. Since that time, the trans blew the high clutch and I continued using it as a city car but also had to make a few short highway runs at times where cruising at 55 mph ran the motor at about 4500rpm and maybe a little higher as its been awhile since I've driven it. It has survived on the same oil since shortly after I bought it and its been about 7000 (hard) miles. So basically, it will last and run just fine, just could be something to plan for in the future but not necessary immediately if that is the case.

As so-cal said, it could just be a lifter in which case there are a few tricks that could work.

Re: engine knock

Also since you live in FL, you can do a 20w50 oil change next time, or even 15w40 diesel oil, and add some Lucas oil stabilizer in there. With thicker, sticky oil your oil pressure should go up, and also help cushion any slap present. The only drawback is slightly worse gas mileage from the oil windage.
