What size tire?

What tire would be best for this rim on the stock suspension so I don't rub?
Info here.

Re: What size tire?

225/45/17 would fit nicely, retaining stock diameter.

Re: What size tire?

Will 225 60 16 tires rub? I have some all season take-offs from my outback that I would like to mount on my SVX winter rims until I can afford a new set of winter shoes for the SVX.

Thanks,
Christian

Re: What size tire?

It will be close. On SVX rims you're asking? it might rub on the plastic fender "mud guard" or whatever it's called but won't rub on anything else. And even so, unless you have 200+lbs in the trunk or go over big bumbs, it still might not rub at all.. Might as well give it a shot and see, or at least that's what I would do.

Re: What size tire?

Thanks, Nate. They are aftermarket 5 spokes with close to factory offsets. I will try it since my summer rims/tires have ZERO snow traction as I learned a few years back when I was caught by surprise by 3/4 " of snow.

Re: What size tire?

I bought a set of 17" alloys from an RX7 with ET of 50 mm.

I am planning to fit 235/45 Y17 on them. Will this combination fit?

It should be 5 mm wider inside and 15 mm outside. Diameter is the same as original.

Any reccommandation regarding tyre brand/type?

Re: What size tire?

Should be just peachy. What kind of tire are you looking for? Ultimate grip, touring, etc?

Re: What size tire?

The SVX is my daily driver. For excessive fun I have a Lotus Turbo Esprit.
I think I am looking for a set of tires, that gives neutral/direct steering, with good braking and wet performance. Noise and rolling resistance is less important. I would say 60% sport and 40% touring.

I have been looking at:
Falken ZE912
Bridgestone RE050
Pirelli (P7, Zero)
Dunlop SP01
Hankook (K105, V12)

Re: What size tire?

I've got 245/40zr17's on mine, with 8" wide rims.

HERE is a very handy tire size calculator that I often refer to. You'll find what sizes you can run that will measure the same diameter as stock, or find out how far off your speedo will be with another size tire.
