Looking for part number for Stereo Unit Cage

Hey everyone

I'm after the part number for the cage I'm not sure if it comes in parts or whether it's sold all together (RHD)

I've been on the computer at Subaru Parts because they couldn't find it and asked me to find it which I couldn't.

I could only find actual stereo units and the a/c unit, other than that it was a picture of the whole dash, empty or the instrument panel. Was really annoying.

Someone has taken the headunit out before and put it back together or broken the cage at some stage, it's fine now but I can tell it will break when I take the old head unit out, it's siliconed in there.

It's for a 92 if anyone could help find the part number, I really appreciate it.

Thanks, Jordan.

Re: Looking for part number for Stereo Unit Cage

The cages are indeed sold as a complete assembly. You'll need to determine the correct part number that matches your car's trim colour.

In theory, you can buy many of the parts individually, although I think that a few little bits are not orderable.

Try this site: www.akadia.ru/_pages/subaru
  • Enter your car's VIN. On the next page, click on the line that shows your VIN.
  • On the next screen, change the "RHD" to "Aust". [Not necessary if the VIN was understood to be Aust]
  • Choose "Body, Trim & Accessories"
  • Go to page B3
  • Select "Instrument Panel"
  • Go to page D1 (page K1 shows the LHD drawing).

The radio cage (both the assembly and its component parts) are listed there. The parts list is continued on page D2.

Throughout this site, many things are links even though they aren't obvious. For example, when you click on "Damper-Cover Audio" (item #16, the speed-limiter gear thingy) you go to a page with a list similar to this:
Code:
PartCode Part Number Product Date Applicable Model
66253B 66054PA000 1992/03 - 1994/01 2C.(LHD+GCC)
66253B 66054PA000 1992/03 - 1994/01 2C.(RHD+AUST
That same part number is used in both RHD and LHD SVXs.

ADDED: If you click on the part number here, it opens a new page on a Russian parts site where you can order that part

The diagrams at SubaruParts.com are a little more clear, but only show LHD cars (requires creating a free account).

Re: Looking for part number for Stereo Unit Cage

hey that site is awesome, thanks a lot, but.
I've typed everything on the site but on those page numbers that you say is "D1" I'm getting "B1" and it's a different area of the car. I'm on "Aust", it went automatically with my VIN, I've looked everywhere and I can't find that exact screen shot that you've sent me.

Was wondering if you could send me a long link

Thanks for your help.
Jordan.

Many apologies. I omitted a couple of steps and didn't verify what I posted. I've updated my previous post.
Choose "Body, Trim & Accessories"

Go to page B3

Select "Instrument Panel"

Go to page D1 (page K1 shows the LHD drawing).
See if that works a little better

Cool Re: Looking for part number for Stereo Unit Cage

Try Peter here in Auckland - he has 3 SVXs in "bare body form, with ALL parts removed (including wiring harnesses).

click on

search SVX

look for Racerx4 listing.

I've bought a few items from him over the years (such as rear deck blower/ioniser complete with switch & wiring harness for NZ$100).

regards

Steve

Re: Looking for part number for Stereo Unit Cage

Hey thanks a lot for your help guys, I really appreciate it. Looks like it's gonna be a new one because every wrecked or parted SVX i've seen, the cage is always broken.

Someone always gets to the A/C unit before I can get to it and in their processs they screw the cage
