Turn signal switch broken-replace only that?

My turn signal switch is broken. It still works but it has a broken part in it that causes it to move back and forth. Makes it difficult to use the brights.
I came across this diagram which shows it as a complete unit. Is this correct? You have to replace the whole thing?! I've replaced these in many other cars and they were plug and play types.

Any help would be appreciated.

Eric

Bump.

Before tearing into the steering wheel can someone verify that when you replace the turn signal switch you are buying a whole unit that has the turn signal switch AND the wiper control switch for the other side.
