This is the reason you're into an SVX? Please allow me to speak frankly on behalf of most of the members here when I say that our cars were not designed to be in that category of vehicle. These are not crotch rockets that you buy for $500 and dump money into so you can go drifting. These are grand tourers designed for top speed and long distance. And not for racing silly 240SXs around your hometown.

If you want a drifter, buy something that starts out RWD, and starts out light. Funny thing is, you'll spend a lot less money getting a car like a 240SX or a Corolla to perform the way you want it to than you will trying to make the SVX run poorly.

no i did not buy the svx to drift, i was only curious..., but i baught it because i like to have something diffrent than everyone else and for speed wise im most intrested in accelaration, not top speed, considering you can get away with a 0-60 or 0-40 runs on the street but you wont get away with doing 100+ , atleast where i live

I fu(%ing hate that movie, precisely becuase it makes people who can't drive in the first place think drifting is awesome.

Drifting is like playing guitar, its easy to get started, anyone with half a brain can brake loose thier back end. On the flip side, it is hard to master, and should never be done outside of a closed course.

That being said, it takes years to master a RWD drift, and AWD drift takes even more time, and some level of natural talent to do well. Don't try to drift your SVX. Lest this happen to you.

This guy wasn't even trying to drift, he just hit an oily patch of road and got sideways. Once you are sideways in an AWD car you'd better know what you are doing.

In this case, the driver was unable to return the car to the proper orientation. This is about what happened.

Flip
Flip
Flip
then he hit a tree, upside down, airborne, at 60 mph... He broke his neck, pelvis, and arm, and was in a wheelchair for a LONG time.

Sorry about the apparent rant. The point is, if you want to learn to drift, or do any sort of extreme driving, go to a driving school, then hit the track. Keep it off our roads, there are enough idiots out there already.

Actually you can't get away with 0-60 runs on the street, or even 0-40. Fast accelleration counts as driving to endanger and you can get a ticket for it. If you are interested in acceleration then you will still have to drop some good $$$

We have a new law here in Ontario, a street racing blanket law. 50 KPH over the limit, or anything a police officer deems to be "street racing", will get you a minimum $2000 fine, and one week without you license and car. This is things like spinning the tires at a light, weaving through traffic....

max horsepower

consider the 245hp 3.2L porsche or the 3.2L vtec nsx 250hp auto 290 manual. webcamshafts.com is who makes custom cams for porsche and anyone with the money to spin 8k rpm, but you wont past emissions with GT3 horsepower:380.

You shouldnt compare oranges to apples. The NSX is not a comparable car because of the variable valve timing.

Why are we talking about turning an SVX into a street racing car? I'm shocked that I'm the only one who's even come close to the ol' saying...

"Time to sell the SVX for something else. Please."

Time to remind you of the No Street Racing post policy around here. Please refrain from posting about it and preferably doing it at all.

talk is cheap

power without control is nothing and control without power is nothing. would you call a bentley gt or a 911 c4 a street racer. it's fun watching more "powerful" cars spin their tires when you're passing them in the rain. could i be more subliminal?
