Cool. So at the rate I'm going, mine should be good for another 15 years or so.

Chris, Nope No Picture! It doesn't look like show room any more! door dings, hood chips, a little rust, a few repaired accidents, In fact it didn't look like showroom when I got with 90k on it. Still looks pretty much like the locker pictures at 20 feet back or so Most of the car has been repainted along it's life line so far it has about three different tones of paint now.

dcb, 15 years is a long time and I think it will make it. Good quality material was used in the SVX

Matt, I used to change the oil every 3k miles, used mobil one now I kind of let it go longer and use mobil or exxon. I am not changing a T-belt until at least another 100k as the belt is way over designed. I do all my own service work except wheel alignment, I change the AT fuild, drop the pan, clean the magnet every spring, replace external filter. The back of the AT has been apart for work but hasn't been out of the car since I bought it.

It still goes like HELLLLLLLLL Blows black smoke out the back if I don't nail it but once a month. Then when I nail it AGAIN right away it is CLEAN. So what is that? carbon build-up in the exhaust? Uses a quart of oil about eevry 1500 miles I think thru the rear leaking engine seal, some smoke on the hot exhaust sometimes, has some rust showing around the wheel wells, gets around 27mpg on my commute, no bad sensors for a long time 2yrs I think, bad coil last spring, front rims are a little bent from pot holes on route 80 and that helps me stay under the speeeed limit.

Thanks Earl

Tim, I work in Englewood and live in Port Murrray and drive 124 miles per day to make money. I am so glad that route 80 got repaved this year. I got the pothole number on my cell phone and was calling about 3 times a week.

I am sort of convinced the main bearings have opened up and that's why the engine seals leak if I drive it hard. So I drive it slow, enjoy the ride and relax. What a great SVX!!! Any SVX is great!!! Subaru's BIG marketing mistake. Take a car designed to go 140mph and try to sell it to the general public. Yuk Yuk Yuk The mistake got us SVX that last.

Take care,
John McKenna

Thanks I was going to say 99419.19191919198. My mental math needs a little brushing up on... So I still have a ways to go before hitting 100,000 miles...

Unfortunately as a result of the high use of the network in respect of problems, visitors get the idea that the SVX is very bad news.

Positive information such as this is very good news. More would be a good thing, as the car surely deserves more credit.

I bought the SVX with very little research simply on the good name and history of Subaru cars. I discovered them about 12 years ago and have bought five since then. I have had no trouble with any of them beyond regular maintenance and not a single one of them have ever left me stranded. I expect nothing less from this SVX....
I am amazed I got this car for so little. And some would say I overpaid. I can't believe these things are not getting eaten up the second they go up for sale...
