Where to get the coolant temp sensor

I've been trying to find the coolant temp sensor, but I haven't had much luck finding it online. Would someone be able to give me a link to it? I don't want to buy the wrong part.

Re: Where to get the coolant temp sensor

Thanks! Does it matter which one I get? I think I'll just get the most expensive one. If it doesn't matter, then I'll get the cheap one

Re: Where to get the coolant temp sensor

Yes, non-OEM temp sensors are not well calibrated! Too risky....

Re: Where to get the coolant temp sensor

When I posted this, I should have been more specific, I meant where to find the OEM ones. I don't want aftermarket. I searched subaruparts.com and I couldn't find anything. I think I might just stop by my local dealer and see if they have any

Re: Where to get the coolant temp sensor

Walk into any auto parts retailer and tell them what you need.

I doubt seriously that Subaru actually manufactures parts such as this. When you insist on an OEM sensor, belt, whatever, you're just paying two prices for what came on the car.

Yes, I've replaced the ECU coolant temp sensor on my cars with aftermarket goods, with no troubles. TPS units, too. And yes, there are surely exceptions, such as aftermarket stuff that requires modifications.

Ordered one from Subaru today. Part was $26. I'm happy.

Re: Where to get the coolant temp sensor

My car just threw the coolant temp code too.
Is it the single wire one or the two wire one?

Re: Where to get the coolant temp sensor

The 2-wire one. The 1-wire one is just for the dummy gauge on the dash.

Re: Where to get the coolant temp sensor

Don't be surprised if your dealer has a really hard time finding it. It took them 20 minutes to figure out the part I needed... It was in there system as something different, like just "temp sensor" or something. As icing said, it's the two wire one.

I went to O'Reilly Auto Parts and said, "I need an ECU coolant temp sensor for a '92 Subaru SVX." Done. Same thing you got, for about $8.00 less.
