Thats the coolant temperature sender, it controls the reading of the gauge in the dash.

Just about to replace it now. I'm going out to go get a deeper 19mm socket. I tried the crow's feet spanner that I used for the PCV value but there wasn't enough room for movement. So just for the record a deep 19mm socket will do the trick.

Sorry to keep asking so many questions. Why did this sensor fail? My svx has only 155,xxx kms.

You can ask all the questions you want.... most all in this forum are here to help.

Its not really a matter of mileage..... more of an age issue. Most thermistors tend to fail after some length of time or # of cycles, it just happens.

Did replacing the temp sensor fix your bouncy idle at startup?

Out of curiousity, should this be an item to replace every 5 years or so on the vehicle just for preventitive maint.?

Bump...

I would like to know if it fixed it as well, mine does the bouncy idle every once in a while. I will check my codes tomorrow for the temp sensor. but I KNOW that I have o2 sensor code.
