car gathering Sunday mornings, Burtonsville, MD

Hey any of you DC'ers, every Sunday morning between 8 and 10:30, there is a gathering of car enthusiasts at the Dunken Donuts in Burtonsville, MD at 198 and 29. We have hot rodders, classic cars and European sports cars. I take my SVX there when I don't have the kids. (then I'm in the supercharged previa) I'm attaching some photos of some of the cars that show up.

Come on out and enjoy a donut or two as well!

regards

Ken

Ken,
might just have to drop by one of these Sundays if I'm up visiting my parents in Wheaton. Ron isn't too far away - he's over in Ellicot City.

That would be great. Looking forward to meeting you and anybody else. Its a low key event, mostly older guys, with some very nice cars showing up.

Heres a couple more images.

Maybe I'll drop by. It's not that far. My SVX is a little beat up though. Mostly small dents and dings and some scratches. I wish the Cadillac was done or maybe the Fiero on the road.

It don't matter

It doesn't matter what you bring. come look at the other cars! If you're in the area, stop on by. You'll see some nice heavy iron.

This goes on every Sunday, weather permitting, all year round.

It gets a lot slimmer in the winter time but the guys (and gals) use it as an excuse to get the ol' rods running in the winter time.

Prime time is spring thru fall. I would guess there were about 100 cars there today. A great showing of all kinds of cars. We had a Ferrari 328, a severly shot yellow studebaker, 62 caddy convertible, Austin Healey 3000, 3 radical rods from the Hot Tin club, bunch of mopars, 58 impala, numerous camaros and trans ams, some rodded out pickups, 67 Tiger, a 67 chevy II running straight alcohol, and numerous other classics and hot rods.

I'ver included a couple more shots from today.

It would really be cool to see some SVXs out there! I could not represent today since I was with my little girl. We were rollin' in our 94 white supercharged previa. I do automotive photography for fun so you'll see my mounted prints hanging outside my white van.

I've driven by this gathering a number of times when heading south on 29 to the Benz club autocrosses on the WSSC property in White Oak. As this site was sold, no more cone parties there, but I'll try to stop by sometime in the event I can get out of bed by 9:00ish.

Ron (ZZZZZZZZ).

It should be good

It should be good tomorrow morning. it will be a little cold but the cars will be hot. I'll be there with my svx. I know of a Lambo and multiple ferraris showing up along with the usual assortment of hot rods and classics.

Stop by to say hello

Re: car gathering Sunday mornings, Burtonsville, MD

EDIT: Could a Mod please move this thread to the Upcoming Meets section? I think more would see it in that section than here. Thanks.

Bump.

So today I decided to take a trip down there with Killer Tomato only to find the shopping center under construction. So I turned around and went home. On another forum, I found that apparently is has been moved across the street to the Burger King. I drove around to see if the gathering was somewhere close, but I couldn't find anything. If karmaken is still around, could you please chime in to give us (me) the update? Thanks.

Re: car gathering Sunday mornings, Burtonsville, MD

Church of the Holy Donut has continued life on the other side of the street. The Burger King folks semi-unofficially invited us to use their parking lot which is literally, right across the street from the now totally de-constructed strip mall.

Our only constraints are that we don't park on the Giant side of the lot, keep the spots directly in front of Burger King open and clean up after ourselves.

Its been quite the hopping joint since we've moved over. Lots of nice cars including a very rare 67 Marcos with a wooden sub frame among many highlights.

Let's see some SVX's out there!

regards

Re: car gathering Sunday mornings, Burtonsville, MD

Glad this thread was bumped/moved. I need a meet fix, since I couldn't make the pumpkin carve. Tho I did do a Porche "Drive and Dine" thing with a friend here on the Eastern Shore a few weeks ago.

Not sure I can drag myself out of bed early enough to get up there, but I'll give it some serious consideration!
