just got an svx

finally someone approves me man it took like 5 days.

anyway i just bought a 1992 svx with 150k miles on it. costed me 2k with the fact that it had a hole in the exhaust valve which was causing the engine to miss and some other minor problems. had to pull the whole engine apart but we are having the whole thing cleaned and grinded free from my uncle. =] i am kinda regreting the buy because of the rarity of the car. it is a nice car but the parts? yikes! the price not to mention trying to find them if not going to subaru and spending alot. but i am 16 just got my license so i don't really have a budget if something goes wrong. just wanted to join this sight to speak with some svx owners if i need anything or have any questions. =]

Re: just got an svx

Well, first of all, congrats on buying an SVX. They're nice cars and can last a long time if taken care of properly.

Second, I have to say that these cars can be temperamental and at some points in time can cost a lot of money. So, if I were you, I'd build up some sort of budget to be able to afford some of the random things that might come up with a car that's 16 years old.

This site will help you a lot. You can find out how to fix the little things that can cost many $$$. Good luck with the project.

<<the fact that it had a hole in the exhaust valve which was causing the engine to miss and some other minor problems.>>

that would cause alot more than "minor" problems. other than the "miss" what other problems does the engine have?

Re: just got an svx

well it wasn't a big deal money wise but its taking some work. and the other minor problems were some tubing was bad, something was leaking a little gas still not quite sure what it is. there is an exhaust rattle (it might have been from the hole in the exhaust valve i'm not sure) and thats it. the interior is in very good shape all the leather is near perfect. maybe i can send some pics for some advise? that would be awsome. just get back to me please.
