Help !!! My Transmission Took A Dump

Hello, I have a 94 SVX L model, my tranny dook a dump on monday, @ 75 mph, i just heard a klunk, and then it slipped. when i backed out of it and re-engage it it was fine so i drove it home. When i came to a stop, then took off again, 1st & 2nd gears were grinding badly, but then it shifed into 3rd it was fine. I got home, put it in park, the tried reverse, and nobody was home. I have been seeing info about a Legacy 4.4 conversion. Can anybody help me in this info, what year of legacy etc.. I moved from Portland, Or. to Daytona Beach, FL. and i got some quotes here on fixing my trany, the low was $3200 and the high was $4600. PLEASE HELP

Bill

Re: Help !!! My Transmission Took A Dump

I got a rebuilt trans for 1350.00, not including core charge which you get back from AutoSports Unlimited, Zeeland, MI. Works great. Even came in a specific trans shipping plastic case. The core I just send back to them today has Level 10 valve body and Stage 2 clutch kit as I didn't have time and was to lazy to swap it out. Or check out car-part.com.

Re: Help !!! My Transmission Took A Dump

I had one rebuilt on my last SVX and it was a little less than $3800. If I had to do it over again I would swapped it with a 4.44 or a known working 4EAT. (I think there is currently a working 4EAT for sale in the parts forum.) It would be a lot cheaper to entirely replace the transmission with one that works rather than to have the old one rebuilt. Of course you usually get a one year warranty with the rebuild. You are taking a bit of a chance on a used one, but at half the price it may be worth considering. My 2 cents. Good luck
