Angry How to take off the ceiling lining?

Hey all. is there a how-to on taking off the ceiling and also the front ceiling spot lights and switches for the sunroof?? I'm not sure where to start and i can't seem to find info

I'm in the process of rewiring everything up in the roof/ceiling of my SVX. There's some burnt cable and a cigarette burn from my girlfriend so i thought I'd redo a lining OVER the existing lining in the same colour or a black leather to match the rest of the interior colour and seats. At the same time I'm going to rewire the sun visor cables because the driver side visor cable have burnt!! I'm yet to find out how far the cables have caught fire.

Help would be really apreciated. Thanks, Jordan.

Re: How to take off the ceiling lining?

After you remove all of the a and c piller trim pieces you need to remove the lenses for the map lights on the sunroof switches an remove the bulb inside. You should see a screw in each socket. Remove these and the whole unit will come out.

Re: How to take off the ceiling lining?

Awesome thanks a lot, hopefully that's sets me up for everything. I hope im not in for a major major job with all the burnt wiring.

Does anyone suggest a certain type of glue or glue paste to glue the new lining to the old lining

Thanks again.

Re: How to take off the ceiling lining?

Instead of pulling all the roof to bits, why not just attach the new wiring to the old, and pull it through the same path.

Harvey.

Re: How to take off the ceiling lining?

Yeah I've thought about doing that, the only problem is that I don't know how far the wire has burnt and where the wire actually comes from. So far I've taken the right pillar off so the wiring MUST be coming from the left pillar but I'm yet to have time and tackle everything and then I'm putting a fuse in the hole where sunvisors are.
I'm thinking of just taking the whole ceiling off and taking it to a fabric shop and matching the colour and glue the new fabric on top..... It's sounds A LOT worse than it is, I just want get the car back to near new condition.

Does anyone have any suggestions on glue?

Thanks for the response guys!

Re: How to take off the ceiling lining?

3M has glue in a arosol, for headliners such as this. ...or is it a hard surface, then I'd suggest a 3M 76 type. there both a contact cement. Good products

Re: How to take off the ceiling lining?

Mission accomplished!!

I put fuses for each sun visor in the roof since the fuses down by your feet don't seem to blow.

Everything happened so quickly over 2 "sick days off work" I completely forgot to take pictures with the ceiling off and everything rewired

Here are some pictures of the finished product at night.

AND just a little off the topic, yesterday someone came by to put on new gas struts for the bonnet and boot and I managed to sneak in a picture of the back of his van. This picture doesn't do justice of how many gas struts were in the back of his van.
