Don't tell svxfiles but...
pending the completion of an inspection the SVX i have loved and sometimes pushed to the gas station because the fuel gauge doesn't work will be up for sale. i have no intentions of selling it on the forum because i can not verify its mechanical condition to the degree that i would feel comfortable selling it to a friend.
as you may be wondering im selling my car for the same reason chicke sold his. i am having a baby, or at least my soon to be wife is having a baby, im there to but she is doing most of the work. it is unfortunate that we can no longer afford to maintain three cars and with the impending cost of parenthood and my ever expanding college carrier, sacrifices must be made. what can i say, you got to break a few eggs to make an omelet! god willing, i'll get a turbo charged subaru legacy wagon (or a prius sans turbo) down the road, but as for now i am driving a nice silver ford escort furnished by svxfiles himself. about 30 miles to the gallon. |

I am sorry to hear that you must sell your SVX. If you sell it to someone you know and you explain that you are not sure of the condition, how can you be blamed if there is a problem. A used car is that, used. I would think that someone who knows the SVX would be better off getting it than someone who doesn't know much about them. Good luck.

surely know one here could be upset if they were to buy it on the basis of your stated disclosure. What could be more fair or honest?
What is more members here have the ultimate in available information, which should put them in a good position to accept that legally, a buyer must beware. You are denying yourself what is your rightful deserve.

Congrats Matt on you're impending little one. The SVX though not ideal as a baby hauler is still better then buying a breeder buggie like Chike LOL but then again he does have 2 not so little ones now. You just need to learn how to pack and what to take which Americans seem to have trouble with. I've had no problems with using mine to haul the little racer around in fact, its proven to be quite accessable to get into the back.

I'd say put it on the forums, list what you've done to it, tell anyone interested they're wlecome to check it out before hand, as you cannot verify the mechanical condition of anything in question. Folks on the forum are more likely to keep it running and fix it up, and have access to much more resources to do so, than a regular guy on the street.

ill post some photos of the car this weekend if its not still at the shop. the kbb for the car is 3600..... that seems really high, and i was being harsh on the condition ratings. i question the blue books validity.

I have had the fun recently of trying to stuff a car seat into the back seat of my SVX , I can tell you it is really a fun way to spend several minutes, followed by crawling in to thread the seat belt through the bottom of the car seat to anchor it. Not to mention then trying to stuff the noisy little girl who lives with me into it without strangling her with the drivers seat belt in the process!
I still haven't figured out why it is so hard to get the darn seat in but is easy to get it out. |
