I only hand wash my cars as well. It takes a while, but it is worth it.

Wow! I had always heard not to use the brush car washes cause they can scratch the paint.. but this is horrible. I do have used the brush-less before due to a busy schedule, once or twice. I normally just wash myself but in a pinch, guilty.
Don't let up. I have a messed up door panel because a green truck ran me off the road (decided he wanted to suddenly play chicken) and into a muddy/grassy ditch. I couldn't get out myself so I had to call a tow truck. He pulled me out but with my door open so it appareantly caught on a broken branch or something and pulled part of the plastic door panel off, snapping the clip holding it. When I told him he messed up my door panel, he blunty told me "No, that happened when you ran yourself into the ditch." I think i went dumb with his comment because of the nerve + the stupidity of his comment (plus I was still shaky from narrowly avoiding the truck). So I didn't argue like I should have... I'm not good with rude people - need to toughen up!
Now I have to replace the clip, panel, and repaint. Ugh! I'm left with a lot of regret and I promised myself to not let myself be so easily swayed again.

I think your situation is even more clear cut and you should use it to your fullest to get your car fixed. Don't be me! Regret lingers like a bad smell.
Good luck!

I always hand washed my cars before I moved...but now I have no choice as the apartment complex has no outside water to hook up a hose to
I took my car through the shell carwash after I got gas and amazingly no scratches....Even though little bits and pieces of the car were missed by the brushes.
Cross my fingers I have to get my truck washed next...hopefully the brushes won't rip off my back window decal.

I know people who have used the brush type washers and had antennas tangled in the brush and it proceded to beat the car with it as it went up and over the roof and trunk. I would hate to be in the car and have that happen!

Hiya,

I learned not to be lazy cleaning your car the hard way 3 years ago.

I imported a modded Skyline R33 Gtr from Japan and sent it to a good local valet shop for the full works, I had used them a few times and they had always done a fantastic job.

I got a call 4 hours later from Paul the owner expecting the car to be done but was told they could not get it to start. hmmm strange I thought it had not been a problem.
Cut a long storey short 1 of the deadheads had washed off the engine bay with the car running, pressure washed the HKS intakes!!! which had sucked water into the turbo's & engine and then to top it off blasted the ecu sender unit blowing it completly plus the HKS after market ECU & boost controller link unit & the Defi gauge sender unit.

After a few legal letters a court summons and 9 weeks hassle there insurers agreed to pay the £4600 bill to put the car right.

The valet shop told me they didnt want my business again! as if I was gonna be going back, made me laugh though

Darren

I went to a turtle wax one summer with my SVX.

+15$ car wash for them
+450$ black mica power heated mirror for me.

I couldn't believe how much the mirror was, but they paid for it. For things like that you don't just roll over and pay for it yourself...
