Turning into a disaster - Binding

After a combined total of 5 weeks without my car, i was told that the car would be done for me to pick up today. I then got a call from the transmission shop. THe car isnt fixed, and they're at the 'we give up' point.

The problem:
AWD binding in tight turns.

What has been done so far:
-Transmission has been rebuilt
-TCU has been replaced
-VSS has been replaced
-Transmission tech assures me that my tire wear is not the cause. The tires have relatively even tred.

What now?

-Mike

You never mentioned backflush the cooler & lines or replace campaign filter (if you have it on your 95).

Have them loop the cooler outlet of the tranny back to the inlet bypassing all of the cooler lines and radiator and take it for a SHORT drive to see if binding is gone.

My car binded in turns for 6 years until I replaced the external filter and replaced the radiator cooler with a external cooler. I have concluded that binding is caused by excess pump pressure being diverted to the rear clutch instead of through the cooler circuit. The extra fluid pressure needs to bleed off somewhere. I think that duty solenoid "C" can't hold back the high pressure and it bleeds through and engages the rear power when it isn't needed.

Mike,
By TCU do you mean Transmission Control Unit or Transfer Clutch Unit? I thought I saw one of your posts referring to the transmission control unit computer which is why I ask. This sounds more like a transfer clutch problem. This may not have been touched by a non-Subaru shop. This sounds like the problem I was having recently. Once the transfer clutch unit was replaced, everything was

Good luck
Todd

Well,in that case - both TCU's were replaced. The tranny control unit, and the transfer clutch unit.

I'mgoing to forward all of this info to the tranny guy, though. Any other thoughts?

AN UPDATE

I gave all the information you all posted to my tranny guy. He is doing everything suggested by you all. I have had no word yet as to whether or not anything worked, but I'm going to 'pull an Aredub' tommorow and stop in unannounced.

wish me luck!!

A word of explanation: Mike and I were IM'ing the other night and I related to him how my tranny rebuilder used to seem "nerved" that I would just "stop in" instead of calling. He used to say, "it'd be easier for you just to call." I would say, "I was in the neighborhood" in one of those "tones" like, "no, you're going to keep seeing my face as long as you have my car." Makes me a little uncomfortable thinking how long they'd have had my car the last time if they hadn't seen my face almost every other day during my car's 24 day stay.

I stopped in - my car wasnt there. They gave up on it and sent it to the subaru dealer (Lancaster County Motors) Maybe now something will get done.

Nice of them to let you know what they were doing, in advance. I suppose they're STILL going to foot the bill.

Mike, make sure you print this out for your tranny guys:

http://members.tripod.com/quick_svx/.../42749013.html

Wouldn't hurt for them to have this too:

http://members.tripod.com/quick_svx/.../42748083.html

In fact, if your guys have access to the internet, you might want to send them here:

http://members.tripod.com/quick_svx/.../42063452.html

It not only includes Subaru TSB's but includes many SB's from ATRA (Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association) which pertain to the SVX.
