Gripe about Subarus

Why are the battery cables so short. I was about to get a optima battery today by selling my almost new interstate battery to my Dad and purchasing an Optima as a replacement the Interstate Wouldn't fit in my dads car and the Optima wouldn't fit in the SVX. Both reasons were because the battery cables are so short. Why doesn't Subaru put in battery cables that are 2 inches longer?

Oh. I see. You think you should be able to just run any battery you darn well please, huh?

(Punk kids - sheesh!)

Hmmmm. Interesting. I know Doug Mohr runs an Optima. So does John Hoffman . . . and John Shotsky. Haven't heard any complaints out of them.

Battery cables

When I replaced my battery with my new Optima, my battery cables were more than long enough. Are you sure you have the original cables that came in your SVX?

The nice thing about the optima is since it is leakproof you can get rid of the battery tray and are able to reposition the battery quite a bit. In your case maybe enough to reach your cables.

Check out my personal locker "Modifications/fixes" for photos of the optima and alternator wiring upgrade. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/user.php?svxcess|247

The factory battery cable assembly is part no. 81060PA000 and runs $117.64 (ouch! more than the battery its going to) check it out at http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=820-A
