Odd tranny action
Call me kookie, but with the 4EAT is it 3 + overdrive or 4 + overdrive
When I accellerate from a dead stop, I swear it shifts 4 times, and if my math is correct that would mean 5 gears.

This one tripped me up, too.
There are four forward gears and one reverse. That fifth 'shift' is the torque converter locking up. There are real nice explanations of how torque converters work all over the web.

AutoFest is in late September - 28th through the 30th.
You can find info at www.myclassiccar.com We all submitted our registrations to Steve Wasion so he could register us together. He's planning on doing that tomorrow. Since you're new, he MAY wait a couple days for you. Then again, maybe not - I don't really know him. I think we have four or five confirmed...the thread is in 'General SVX Babble' and was last posted to on Monday, so you should see it near the bottom.

Lockup, your daughters
Kev, I think the lockup happens also in third, don't know for definite, my tranny is faulty and awaiting repair. It does not lock up in 2nd or first.
If you engage the MANUAL button on the lever, this is for keeping traction in slippy conditions. The tranny electronics are smart enough to deny lockup in the two high gears in Manual mode, to allow slippage of the High Clutch to maintain uphill progress. Third gear is direct drive [1:1], even with the converter locked up. Technically 4th gear is an overdrive gear, ratio about 1.3:1 I think, which is really high, and will be at its highest when the lockup occurs. Joe
