AMR coilovers warning

After reading several posts, I ordered coilovers from AMR in March 2014 and still haven't received them. When ordering, I spoke to TJ and he said that they were just placing an order for SVX coilovers and if I placed an order now, I could get them in a few weeks; if I waited it would take months. Well it been 5, going on 6 months. They sent me a tracking number on 07/18/2014 but UPS says that it is just a sticker # and no package was picked up by UPS. Numerous phone calls and emails to AMR, remain unanswered. Their web page and phone are still working but no response. I found a similar complaint on another SVX forum so I'm not the only one who made a payment of $1500+ and have received nothing. I am warning everyone to be aware of the problems. Anyone have any recent contact w/AMR or know what is happening?

Same issue reported and being investigated on the SVX World network Facebook page. Way not cool.

Well that bites.
And here I was planning on ordering a set pretty soon.
Oh well, time to look for alternatives.

Re: AMR coilovers warning

Update on my order w/AMR. I have received the coilovers and they appear to be well made w/quality parts. I finally received an email from Andy explaining that AMR is a one man business and he had some medical problem causing orders to back up and he didn't have time to assemble the many orders and answer phone calls/emails. In my particular order, the wrong springs were sent to him by suppliers and he had to wait for the correct springs to arrive. He used the same shipping label that he had emailed me w/the initial email in July, that my order was being shipped. His product seems to be a quality part (still need to have them installed/alinement) but in a response email I tried to point out that a little CUSTOMER SERVICE, would have avoided this thread warning and explained the delay, also avoiding the thought that I was scammed. And YES, other SVX site have a similar warning to my original post. I have no idea if the order was ever recieved since no message was posted about receiving the coilovers. Andy did say that SVX orders had increased so I guess he is slowly completeing all orders. I don't want to damage this bussiness since the coilovers are a quality item. Just be aware that he is doing this by himself and be preparred for a long wait.

Be careful.

Chris Demaras posted on Facebook:

AMR ENGINEERING COILOVERS DAMAGED MY CAR

Son of a *****. Just when I thought this was over. Finally got the coilovers, installed them, closed the hood and PING. The adjustment nut poked two dents in my hood.

I spoke to another Subaru SVX owner who bought AMR coilovers and he had the same experience; the adjuster nut is too tall, and contacts the hood. Should I have so proudly slammed the hood shut after the install? No.

But AMR built these and should have known of this design flaw. Thanks for the quality R&D, AMR!

He said:

I filed a BBB complaint about AMR Engineering back in March, but AMR ignored the BBB. Only when the police came to see Andy Reyes did he deal with the non-delivery issues so many customer's experienced with AMR. Now, AMR / Andy is trying to whitewash his soiled reputation by replying to the BBB. Here's what he wrote:

August 18, 2014: "...I was out of the country away on a business trip. While I was away we did some upgrades to our website, and network which did not go smoothly. We had issues with our phone service as well as email. We have since resolved those issues..."

The same story, year after year. Don't buy it! Always a problem with the phones, the internet, the mail server, BUT NEVER ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY for his own actions.

If you filed a BBB complaint and received an email from them (with AMR's reply), make sure to answer it. Tell the BBB that you waited 6 - 9 -12 months for your order, or that you missed a racing season because of AMR's broken promises; just tell the truth about your experience to warn others about this guy.

Re: AMR coilovers warning

Sorry to hear about the adjustment nut issue. I haven't tried to install my coilovers yet so this gives me a heads up.. But is there a solution to the nut being too tall. Trying to get back to Andy for an answer may be useless.

Re: AMR coilovers warning

You may be able to remove the knob and save a bit of height. Put a glob of clay on top, close the hood slowly, and see how much space you have.

Alternatively get a couple smart phones, start a video call between them, and put one under the hood with the flash on. Did this recently for a friend's roof box, worked awesome!

Re: AMR coilovers warning

or you could try a shim under the mounting area where the 3 mounting points are - eg under the bodywork, to pull back the assembly from the hood.

Re: AMR coilovers warning

Those 3 mounting bolts look excessively long as well. 2 or 3 washers between the coil mounting plate and the underside of the strut tower should help quite a bit.

I would use a Dremel cutoff wheel to the studs and add a second nut.

Re: AMR coilovers warning

Man, now that really bites. Those dents really suck.
So much for made in the USA. Pay more but not really worth it. (if you get it at all) Too bad.
Guess I'll have to keep hunting for an alternative.
SVXCESS, hope you can fix that problem.
