I think this applies well here-

Nice try. Mike was the one who locked the thread in question and the other moderators have definitely shown their support of this policy.

Have I been more vocal than the other mods on this issue? Probably. But then I have a job which allows me the freedom to do a little web surfing here and there during the day.

I also happen to feel strongly about the issue. The other moderators and admins agree. That's why we have the policy.

Is it still considered street racing if you drive really, really fast all by yourself? You know like an SCCA Solo class.

its not street racing unless its for cash or slips. Other than that, it's just seeing how the svx can compare to other cars. [trying saying that in front of the judge]

My bro has a sentra SE-R spec V and it's not bad ....gets up and gos.......so I know what that can do and how it feels. The other day I saw a SE-R spec V that wanted to play so I played ................ut gotta stop .......boo

we just need disclaimers stating we do not promote any illegal activity including street racing ...............blah blah

A vocal minority, I'd argue.
That is an example of incorrect logic. Ever heard the old dinosaur joke?

Billy is clapping his hands together. Sally comes up to him, "What are you doing Billy?"

"I'm clapping my hands together to keep the dinosaurs away"

Sally: "But there are no dinosaurs"

Billy: "See, it's working!"

I disagree with this rule. I know I'm new here, but I feel that I can voice a disagreement with the locking of my thread. I understand why you have the rule, and I can see when you would use it (some 16 yr old talks about racing a civic and winning SURPRISE and then evading police officers and other stupid things), but my thread was NOT like that.

I say this with all due respect, but again, I am respectfully voicing my opinion that I disagree with this rule. So I'm complaining, and I believe this Shadow character is also complaining. That's at least 2.

There are more than two... MANY have voiced their opinions... but unfortunately, none are heard...

perhaps its time for a more "organized" approach...

its great that the 6 or so moderators all agree on the ban... but whats 6 to the other hundreds of us out here?

What if....

the thread was about a street race, in which the poster was arrested for street racing. Then the idea of "it's illegal, so you can't talk about it" would no longer apply since the poster was already being punished for their actions. It may even act as a warning to others....

but really I don't care, I just like to confuse people

What it comes down to is simply the attitude that this site has taken on. Whether it be the admin (whom I doubt is at all responsible for it), the moderators, or even just one moderator, it's still a really bad way to do business. I know Mike, I talk to him often, and I know his opinion on the whole situation. All I will say is that I still hold my stance on this. I'm glad to see i'm supported, and I know that regardless of that fact, nothing will come of this. This site will wither and die before anyone does anything about it. At this point I don't really care anymore, I used to (when this site was useful and friendly), but now that the network seems to be entering it's dark ages, i'll just watch it go down the drain.

So good luck to those who support the views I do, and if you need any backup in the future, let me know (my email is in my profile). For now i'm going to lay low.

I'm new here too...

..But I'm just wondering why the minority, majority, or whatever it is, that is concerned with street racing, take some initiative and create their own "SVX Street Racing" site with a forum. That way you wouldn't have to alienate yourself from this group, and you could discuss racing there....?

Because street racing is not the issue here Walter.

(the above is a quote from a movie and does not mean that I think your name is Walter)

Street racing is simply the target of a new policy that IS the issue here.

Yeah, actually, it is. You're the one who, again, wants to turn this into some bigger issue or conspiracy or...I don't even know.

But all it really is about is street racing. This site will not condone it and it will not host threads about it.

That's really all there is to it, man. I don't know what it is that you think is 'next.' Is there a fine line between some kid typing in all caps about racing some Honda through traffic and anther account of taking the car up over 100 on a deserted stretch of freeway? Yes, a fine line. And we realize that. Thank you so much for your trust in our judgement that you think we can't take everything on a case-by-case basis and discuss before we act.

It really is just about street racing. That's all we ask, man - that you take it somewhere else. Well, that and our basic rules about treating everybody here with respect, but, cripes, that's it. Will there be more rules restricting other topics in the future? I have no idea. I can't see the future. I can't predict what a thousand-odd people are going to do next - nevermind the people joining every day. But we're going to try to do our best.

I'm sorry that's not good enough for you. I'm sure, were you in our position, you'd do a much better job.

Now it's no street racing threads, next thing ya know we wont be able to talk about tires, then engines, it'll be a ghost town by the time all traney threads are locked, then Mr pockets is gonna come in and say...

"Ya know what, if you start a thread that has anything to do with a low production sports coupe built by Fuji in the mid 90' you will suffer the same horible fate as Lanshark!!!"

Every one who comes here is here is here at their own free will, the administrators donate their time to keep things in line and have some good reasons for the rules they make. They are reasonable, and while I would like to post some threads on cars I have blown away I don't because the people who put in the time and energy to keep this site in line rerquest that I don't, furthermore I have known people who have died while participating in similar behavior, ever burry a 17 year old who just happened to be in the wrong car? Give em a brake! If you dont like it then leave, the moderators are polite and dont ask for much, I don't understand the huge problem a few of the members here with not being able to talk about whatever they want, may I second was said before? This is a free country, so you have freedom of speak. That dosn't mean you can go into someone elses home and say whatever you want, just on your place and public places, so go somewhere public or start your own site. This is a site designed, hosted, and paid for by a private individual with the right to censor whatever he likes just the same as any other private party and I for one am getting a bit tired of a few people complaining about such a petty issue, this is the SVX world network, not Racers-R-Us.

As for the person who thought that driving fast in the vicinity of antoher car isn't racing, if you are driving faster or accelerating faster than you normally would then you can be cited for racing, Officer Mitchel won't care that you weren't going all out...

It's pretty sad that you find the idea of censoring and limiting information one of safety and reason. In my job this is exactly what makes things dangerous. Anyway, I was not in a RACE, I was in a chase. So unless you have a rule about street 'chasing', I believe my topic should be unlocked.

Same difference, still breaking the law. I highly doubt its gonna get unlocked.

I really can't believe you guys refuse to be mature and respect the wishes of the moderation crew and the administrators, and just not post about the subject. I can assure you- there are very few people around here who care what you did in the name of trying to prove youreself.
