There was a similar scene to this near Indianapolis in 2002, only the five cars stopped were SVXes. The officer pulled over one SVX and the others just pulled over behind him. I believe the officer let the lead car go with a warning -- but then, I don't think he was going 30 over.

Policemen wont even bother at 10 over. They only cite you for 10 over when they're feeling merciful when they stop you at 15-20 over.

This weekend, I was stopped for 74 in a 55. I basically wasn't paying attention -- I was on a rural, split 4-lane, all alone, listening to tunes and cruising at a "comfortable" speed. By the time the detector alerted me to the officer's presence, it was too late. Interestingly, he was headed in the opposite direction and merely stopped at a U-turn space in the median and turned on his lights. I politely pulled over and had my license ready. He pulled in behind me and told me why he had stopped me. I explained that I wasn't paying attention -- he asked me to slow down and sent me on my way. He didn't even run wants and warrants. I was extremely fortunate.

That's how it used to go with me, but in the last few years, they don't even give me a chance to talk my way out of it. :-(

The reason I was so fortunate is because, in November, my year will be up and I'll be able to go to traffic school to avoid points and keep the ticket off my insurance. Kentucky allows you to go to traffic school once a year (used to be once every two years). I believe I've been to traffic school every year that I've had the SVX. Prior to that (in almost 30 years of driving), I'd only gotten two tickets (for 10 over) and two warnings. After the SVX (1999), I think I'm averaging 1.5 tickets per year.

WA traffic school is - you speed (even 10 over) we give you a ticket and you will learn! It has really gotten bad here. Every day when I go to work, I go through a speed trap. They don't give warnings, they give out tickets. It is a real revenue maker. The judges don't reduce the fines very often either.

Florida has a driving school that you can take once a year, or a total of 5 times. It hasn't helped me out yet though, i keep getting screwed up the bum by the cops here!

On the way back from the 10th Anniv meet in Indiana, a cop pulled over my group (5 svx's) for doing 94mph. He had us sit there for about 30 mins then let us go with no written warning or ticket. I guess we got lukcky!

I saw this in the local paper recently; these 'Vette drivers are 'my kind of people'.

Reminds me of the ticket I got on my way up towards Fargo on I-94 a couple of years ago- I got stopped (after he did a VERY fast 'flip') and asked me how fast I was going; I said I knew, but would rather not say..... He gave me a ticket for doing 86 in a 70 zone. Most of that trip I was doing more like 90-100.........

I sure enjoy the 'long legs' of an SVX...........

A few years ago, my son and I were going to Louisville. I'd just gotten finished "playing" with a Mitsu Spyder when I saw the unmarked going in the opposite direction. He flip-flopped (and, by that time, I'd "blended in" with the crowd and was going the limit). I saw him coming in my left rearview and was whispering "don't stop me, don't stop me" He kept coming in the left lane (I was in the right) and started to pass me (whew! I thought). Just as his tail got even with my hood, he slowed down and dropped in behind me and hit the lights. I pulled over. After a thorough grilling and a run on wants and warrants, he came back with a written warning. I promised to slow down and went on my way. I tossed the warning in the glove box without even looking at it. A few miles down the road, we stopped to eat and I asked my son to take the piece of paper out of the glove box. He'd given me a WARNING for going 86 in a 65. Talk about dodging a bullet.

That reminds me, about 2 months ago I was out on roads for the Yakima Valley spring wine festival (barrel tasting), and on one stretch of freeway, my radar detector kept reacting, but I couldn't find the patrol car. It kept reacting and I kept looking, and eventually, I found the car (he had just pulled someone over). It was a completely unmarked, black, new body style (semi-compact) Impala with no visible light rack, and get this, ... no government licence plate! Absolutely no way to tell that it was a cop until the lights flipped on. Scary.

I drove about 15 miles the other day and the radar detector kept going off. It then got stronger and stronger. I kept looking for the car and I finally found out what it was. A boat had not turned off their radar!
