Re: fwd legacy trans

You would need a FWD TCU, and to remove the driveshaft. Maybe other stuff. Probably not the best option.

Re: fwd legacy trans

Nope. The TCUs have some important hardware differences, not even just software.

Re: fwd legacy trans

I have run a FWD 4EAT in a AWD 4EAT Legacy, by just installing the FWD fuse, never gave me any trouble, I would think it would be the same in the SVX

Yep, should work fine. I wouldn't see why not. The AWD TCU would be normally looking for signal from VSS1 for different speed, but with the FWD TCU in place, it eliminates it looking for it.
If you end up having troubles with it, I'll bring a FWD TCU just in case.

So this is one of the reasons why a 4.44 AWD tranny controlled by a 3.54 TCU is a bad idea. Inserting the fuse changes the shift points and general feel quite dramatically. Not to mention the transfer clutch binding and jerking in the rear drive. The VSS1 is on the rear output shaft and the VSS2 on the front diff carrier..... the TCU sees quite a slip all the time.

The performance TCU from Micheal with the correct gear ratio programmed in is already at the airport.... will get it tomorrow :-).
