Where to Repair????
Well, I think my tranny is going. There is this buzzing sound on acceleration and it seems to be getting alot worse...(used to only appear in the low end of first gear unless the throttle was about half way, now its when ever its at half and or through most of first). Where is the best/cost effective place to have my svx looked at? I'm not sure which would be worse AAMCO or the dealership, I just purchased the vehichle and there is an extended warranty on the car, which worked really well when I had to replace the alternator. Any ideas?

If you have the warranty why not the dealer?

PLEASE take advice from someone who's been there and still is there....
ONLY TRUST A DEALER with this. Or a Level 10 or comparable. I am not a big fan of delaer pricing but I had my tranny rebuilt by a private shop 2 years ago and it's still not right. They did other damage while replacing it as well and didn't inform me. They have since satisfied that. Dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer, dealer. Randy ii |

well...
The thing is, is that it's not a dealership warranty, it's a 3rd party warranty from a company called PRco. The salesman put it on the car when I bought it. The thing with this warranty is that they will pay for the parts, at their descretion if they feel that the part needs to be covered. Which means they dont have to cover all the parts that are the problem. For example, apparently when I bought the car from the used car lot, the battery that was my SVX was too small for the alternator, and over time the batt killed the alternator. It went out as I got to work that day and the batt had enough to drive it to the nearest dealership. They told me why my alt died then called PRco. Prco told them that they would cover the alternator but not the battery or the belt. So I was stuck with the bill of the batt, belt, labor, and a 75$ deductible... which was just under half the bill together. I can only imagine what a dealership charges for a rebuilt tranny, when AAMCO wanted to charge me $2200 to fix an 97 Escort tranny...
